Airline Passengers Vote Unruly Woman Off A Flight To Atlanta

Modern air travel has become something like Survivor so it was inevitable perhaps that Frontier Airlines passengers headed from Trenton, New Jersey to Atlanta came together to vote a disruptive woman ‘off the island’ rather than let her ruin the rest of their trip.

A crewmember had asked passengers to move closer to the front of the aircraft, but the man refused to change seats. Then two women started exchanging barbs. One of them was “just defending” her male companion who had argued over switching seats, contending he’d done nothing wrong.

Another passenger got fed up with the disruption and decided to take matters into his own hands, becoming the unofficial tribal leader. In video taken on board the aircraft he can be seen announcing to the cabin, “If you want her removed from the flight, please raise your hand.. I got 40 hands up.”

As if it couldn’t get stranger one man offers a woman cash, but she tosses the money back at him. Eventually officers respond to remove one of the women – of course she argues, because she believes the other woman was in the wrong. The man with the cash and his companion were taken off the plane.

Passengers, though, seemed to take the position ‘a pox on both your houses’ wondering why both women weren’t removed. (Maybe because game show rules state that only one woman can be kicked off the island per episode?) The unofficial tribal leader lets an officer know that he wants the other woman off the aircraft.

Sir, I want her off the plane. I don’t care, I’m trying to prove a point. If you want to be a [jerk] to people, we’re going to be a [jerk] back.

In the end, mob rule wins! The woman is taken off the aircraft as well. None of the remaining passengers are eligible for a $1 million prize, though, because this is Frontier Airlines.

  1. Some Frontier and Spirit Airlines passengers want to change the rules of the game to allow passengers the voting opportunity to banish unhelpful flight attendants from their flights.

  2. “Survivor”, really, you watch this? Gary, you should at least pretend you’re more refined than this 🙂 There was this show, Avenue 5, on HBO, which is as stupid but at least it’s SciFi (sorta), has nice cast and sometimes even funny

  3. @Andy (the other one) – I think maybe I watched it one time 20 years ago? I also watched a couple of episodes of the Real World San Francisco about 30 years ago 😀 I still remember Puck.

  4. I am guessing passengers already seated in their assigned seats printed on their boarding passes were asked to move up front because a half-empty plane was out of balance with too many passengers in back and not enough passengers in front.

I commute on Frontier and this actually happens a lot on the cheapest/lowest demand Tue/Wed/Sat flights. The reason why is Frontier charges for all assigned seats. Passengers who check in without paying for assigned seats are auto-assigned to the back of the plane. This way Frontier hangs on to the more expensive front half seats as late in the game as possible in order to keep these more expensive seats available until the end of the check in process.

On half-empty flights, the back half fills up and the front half is sparse. The FA is supposed to call for volunteers to move forward, and usually there are more than enough. But if someone is already seated with their bags stowed and does not want to move to a better seat, they should not be ordered to do so.

  5. A whole lot of entitled people on the airplane. If it is a weight redistribution problem, they should offer whole rows to those that move starting with those closest to the front on a row by row basis. I’m sure that the flight attendants would find people wanting rows to themselves and willing to move. I know I would if I was packed in like a sardine. Another way would be to offer windows and aisle seats with the center one being left open.

  6. Do they get a refund ,if not how is it the decision of other PASSENGERS not the crew to decide who gets to fly?The people ejected have a really good case for refund and damages. Hope they bankrupt Frontier.

  7. Too funny! I’ve never been on a plane but it looks like the same type of people you encounter in Walmart
Entertaining as hell but ya wouldn’t want to take a plane ride with any of them
