News and notes from around the interweb:
- Delta will no longer ship lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and buffalo trophies as freight on its aircraft.
- Earlier today One Mile at a Time‘s Ben Schlappig and I appeared on Fox News’ “Happening Now” to discuss why airfares haven’t dropped as much as fuel prices (Hint: I made similar points in a post earlier today as well.). Pink shirts and glasses were not coordinated.
- After a passenger was stopped at Bremen Airport for carrying a Vlieger & Vandam ‘Guardian Angel’ clutch through the security checkpoint, the airport now advises passengers not to bring the bag to security. The bag’s manufacturer also advises customers not to bring it to the bank. (HT: Alan H.)
- An Allegiant flight from Las Vegas to Fresno returned to the airport after a reported engine fire. Only on inspection by the fire department, it turned out there was no fire. If the pilots even though whatever they heard or saw seemed like it could have been a fire, that was prudent. If the pilots are seeing problems that aren’t there, that’s a problem. Doubly so if in support of union claims that the airline’s aircraft aren’t safe.
- Reminder that the Alitalia frequent flyer program expires December 31. Not your miles, the entire program. Any miles accrued before December 31 must be used by June 30, 2016. They start a whole new program on January 1. Because, Italian law.
- JetBlue still had this sign up at National airport a couple of weeks ago. Come to think of it, this ad makes me want to fly the airline.
That anchor is cute!
Spirit once flew to Nantucket.
They offered a single fare bucket
which lost lots of dough
’til the poor CEO
finally said “Oh, let’s *&%@ it!”
The jetblue sign was still there yesterday, 8/2/15.
