Via the Flight Deal Virgin Australia has New York – Sydney for $675 in August and September.
There’s a 10 day minimum stay (meaning you can return 10 days from the day you leave, not the day you arrive). Miles can be credited to Delta or Virgin America but will not earn full miles flown with either. You earn 20% redeemable miles with Virgin America but 50% redeemable miles (100% elite qualifying miles) with Delta.
Here’s a sample itinerary:
This should be bookable through most online travel sites.
Lots of these “winter fares” to Aus/NZ coming and going, I will be on it when I see one for the Southern Hemisphere summer, i.e. Dec to March.
Correct. I would need it to be more amazing for me to consider it amazing.
It’s worth noting that so far as I can tell, the deal is only bookable on VA codeshares operated by DL, not on VA metal.
@Nick – Southern Hemisphere winter time is the ideal time to visit many parts of Australia – e.g., far north Queensland, the Red Centre, etc. There is more to Australia than Sydney and Melbourne!
Alas, nothing from other cities (such as WAS).
@Michael potentially worth buying separate ticket or train to and from ny
The Sydney Northern Beaches are a fantastic opportunity not to be missed. If you’re thinking about staying at an Airbnb listed property, but they don’t have everything you need (like baby equipment, yoga instructors, private chef, breakfast hampers, etc.) try http://www.cushie.com/guest-services – they provide anything additional you may want!
