News and notes from around the interweb:
- Don’t forget I’m giving away a 3-night stay in a terrace suite in New York at The William. And so far there are only about half the number of entries I’d have expected. That means you have a good shot if you leave a comment.
- I went back on with Ameera David yesterday to talk about Jeff Smisek and Expedia’s acquisition of Orbitz.
- Best Western Rewards is eliminating expiring points, adding a new top tier elite level, and going revenue-based for award nights.
- The last US Airways companion certificates were set to expire today — but that’s been extended. Book by October 5 for travel through December 31 (and use them for American Airlines flights, too).
- The CEO of Star Alliance would love to see Virgin Australia join. They’re a joint venture partner with Delta, though, and that rather complicates matters.
- Wanna Buy a 747?
- United’s new safety video is out. (HT: Matthew)
I’ve only come across Russia Today while channel surfing in hotels abroad, and so didn’t realize that it could be accessed in the USA. Anyway, I thought you handled her agenda-tainted questions (not that RT is the only cable channel with an agenda) very well. Kudos on an informative interview.
First things first, ameera David is cute.
They are not her agenda tainted questions. They are rt’s (which is a propaganda arm) of Putin. They have been doing it for years. The Dumb Americans buy it too.
Ameera is a cutie — plus she has serious journalism chops as well. Too bad she has sold out to RT…
Gary, I am puzzled by the US Airway companion certificate. I had charged my US Airway card in June for a flight on AA over $250, but today when I called the Aviator MC representative (the US Airway card no longer exist) she informed me that I lost the certificate at the end of July when US Airway merged with AA and that benefit has been taken away. Nobody had informed me of that and she did not offer anything else to make up for it. Is it possible that she was wrong? You wrote that it’s been extended to Oct. 5 so I am really confused.
@Elisabetta this is a physical paper certificate that looks like the one in the picture above
The American / US Airlines companion ticket sounds awesome. Thanks for sharing this great information. I look forward to reading more of your insight and I hope to be a lucky participant of your contest!
Chinning!
