News and notes from around the interweb:
- Vistara and Air India could merge with Singapore Airlines owning a stake
- Marriott’s CEO, like predecessor Arne Sorenson before him, recommended China’s “great road map for other markets around the world as they look to chart their recovery” from Covid-19. So how’s life in China going under Plan Capuano?
At the entrance to every public space — restaurants, apartment complexes, even public restrooms — is a printed-out QR code that people must scan with their phones to log their visit. Everyone also has a personal health code, which uses test results and location history to assign a color. Green is good. Yellow or red, and you may be sent to quarantine.
- The smell of nail polish remover in a passenger’s bag gets people sick, plane has to return to the gate. The details are worse.
- Furious woman hurls bottle at airline passenger and launches foul-mouthed rant at flight stewards when they ask her to take her DOG off knees
- American Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Vasu Raja, nothing he hasn’t said before but always interesting and basically right.
- Good riddance to the genuinely disgusting ‘turkey sandwich’ American Airlines had still been serving. Meanwhile beef jerky buy on board in coach is a ‘test’. What does it mean to pass?

In related news AA replaced the disgusting turkey sandwich with an even more disgusting bologna and cheese
Just slather some stuffing on it and cranberry relish then toast the bread and everyone is Happy.
Any airplane meal CAN be disgusting. American Airlines, United, Delta, etc. need to take the Disgusting out of their meals. There is nothing wrong with a turkey sandwich. or any other meal. It is simply the ingredients and how it’s prepared.
America West used to serve a very nice bag lunch that included a turkey sandwich, some chips and a banana. Making a good sandwich-based meal isn’t rocket science.
Well I like spoiled dried up mystery meat just like the next flyer it helps pay for golden parachutes for their executives
Think charity and starve the little people (peons )
That sandwich has been gone for months.
It’s funny how an irrelevant sandwich substitution, that nobody is going to like anyways, has zero nutritional value, deserves a post of its own, pictures and all, while the historic and industry game changing announcement by United Airlines of more than 100 plus Wide Bodied aircraft orders, that will certainly end up kicking the crap out of AA, deserves a second rate mention, no pictures, in the round up section. Hmm, priorities i guess…
I have not been impressed with first class meal offerings from AA for the past two years. I get upgraded due to status, but if I was paying additional money for first, I would not be a happy customer. I usually pass on AA’s pitiful meals and snacks.
Almost certainly this is related to historically high Turkey prices related to Avian Flu.
