The Business Platinum Card® from American Express is one of the most benefit-packed products out there. Through June 30, 2025, there’s a huge new offer:

  • 150,000 Membership Rewards points after charging $20,000 in purchases within the first 3 months
  • $500 statement credit after spending $2,500 on eligible airfare (booked directly with airlines or through Amex Travel) within those same 3 months

A 150,000 point initial bonus on its own is gigantic, but this adds a $500 statement credit you can earn as well on top of that. And these are some of the most valuable points out there.

The card has a $695 annual fee (see rates and fees) and comes with:

  • Airport lounge access. Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Clubs, Priority Pass Select (enrollment required).

  • Elite status. Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold, and status with rental car partners like National (enrollment required).

  • Statement credits. For airline fees, Adobe Creative Cloud, CLEAR, Dell, Indeed and more – e.g. $200 Airline Fee Credit. Select one qualifying airline to receive up to $200 back per year on baggage fees and other incidentals; $199 CLEAR® Plus Credit: Use your card and get up to $199 in statement credits per calendar year on your CLEAR® Plus Membership (subject to auto-renewal) when you use the Business Platinum Card; Hilton For Business members get up to $200 back per calendar year when you make an eligible purchase at Hilton properties across the globe. Benefit enrollment required.

  • Strong earn: On an ongoing basis you’ll earn 1.5X points (that’s an extra half point per dollar) on each eligible purchase at US construction material, hardware suppliers, electronic goods retailers, and software & cloud system providers, and shipping providers, as well as on purchases of $5,000 or more, on up to $2 million per Card Account per calendar year.

In addition earn 5X Membership Rewards® points for flights, prepaid hotels, and short-term rentals and prepaid flight + hotel packages booked at AmexTravel.com.

Points can be transferred to a variety of frequent flyer programs, including:

  • SkyTeam: Aeromexico Club Premier, Air France KLM Flying Blue, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
  • oneworld: Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, Malaysia Airlines Enrich, Qantas Frequent Flyer, Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • Star Alliance: Avianca LifeMiles, EVA Air Infinity MileageLands, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus, Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles
  • Non-alliance: Emirates Skywards, Etihad Guest, JetBlue TrueBlue

When I had this card I got tremendous value from it. I received statement credits in my first calendar year and the start of the second, along with a huge bonus, altogether worth orders of magnitude more to me than the card’s annual cost.

  1. I’ve been at ABP cardholder since 1995. My only regret is that the annual fee has not kept up with inflation. Seems like everybody and his cousin has one now.
