News and notes from around the interweb:
- According to Gogo inflight wifi is less important than meal service for whether consumers choose an airline that just seems weird to me, especially for a company trying to underscore the importance of inflight wifi.
In fact we know that for an important segment of customers wifi is very important, Scott Kirby was finally convinced to add internet when he was President of US Airways when he could see a real pattern of passengers booking away from the airline due to lack of inflight connectivity.
- Delta is buying 20 new Bombardier CRJ-900s with deliveries 2018 – 2020
- Surf Air which sells monthly all you can fly memberships is being sued by the airline actually offering the flights for not paying its bills. Apparently “$3.1 million for more than a year of unpaid flight services in California” is owed.
- Southwest’s double points offer was supposed to end June 13 but was extended through June 30.
- Delta deserves some praise for continuing to keep its Boeing 777s 9-abreast in economy rather than moving to 10-across like American, United, and many international airlines.
- India’s government gives up on selling Air India for now, will subsidize it instead Oddly the subsidies are claimed to help the airline improve efficiency. At the same time they announced they’re investing in a new business class product.
That was one begrudging bit of praise you offered Delta…
I wonder if UA and AA regret 10x seating now that the ‘example’ airline has chosen 9x…
@alan what was begrudging? i am serious.
You can bring your own food onboard but you can’t bring your own wifi
I’ve never heard of a successful business model selling “all you can eat” and using the revenue to buy food from a vendor.
Will Surf Air suffer a wipeout?
According to Gogo *unreliable, slow, expensive* inflight wifi is less important than meal service for whether consumers choose an airline
FIFY
Well if people don’t like the flight, Gogo says don’t blame the Wi-Fi.
