News and notes from around the interweb:
- As travel returns, here’s how to fix business conferences Drop formal presentations. More structured networking. More of the conference outside. Stop serving bland boring food. (Bloomberg)
- Extensive details of the new Etihad Airbus A350 business class seat. It’s Collins Super Diamond (like American Airlines 787-9s, many 777-200s) with doors (like the new British Airways Club Suite). The A350 with these seats will fly to New York JFK and Chicago O’Hare starting in July.
- Chase and Amazon agree to extend co-brand deal
- United’s interior plan for its Airbus A321neos.

- Airbnb increases time for guests to register complaints from 24 to 72 hours, and property owners hate this (Skift)
- Robert Isom’s video as new American Airlines CEO. Fortunately (1) he did not promise “changes you’re going to like” and (2) since the airline has taken out seat back video screens this won’t play at the start of a safety video.
Everybody knows the real work at conferences happens in the hallway conversations that take place outside the meeting rooms. But the meeting rooms and presentations sort of facilitate this “serendipity” so why mess with it? Agree with more outside time and better food. 9 hours in a convention center and my head is spinning
And stop wasting money on speakers. So many of them have nothing to do with the specific industry. They just kinda tailor their story kinda. They charge way too much money for some golf claps at the end.
So we need to actually listen to Bloomberg, wear cool “casual” vests, have all our conferences in Arizona or Europe, and serve Indian food. Check.
