Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains. Many of these are great auctions, without enough bidders, so the items go for way less than they should.
They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 4 night hotel stay in Paris for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.
Since Hyatt Gold Passport elite benefits generally are provided even on stays that do not earn elite credit, I love that there are auctions ending at Hyatt properties in Palm Springs, Goa, Shanghai, Istanbul, Buenos Aires, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Singapore and Jakarta.
Not to mention all the great non-chain properties. For instance, as of this writing 4 nights in the Maldives are going for less than US$650. 5 nights in the Cook Islands — ending in mere days — are going for under $200 (checked yesterday). 3 nights on Maui with auction ending Saturday is pricing at $130 as I type.
The giveaway:
Prize: 4 nights in Paris at Hotel Eugene en Ville in a superior room with private terrace including buffet breakfast. The winner can redeem subject to availability between November 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 (excluding December 31, January 19-24, February 14).
Hotel Eugene
While I haven’t stayed there I certainly would, it appears that three quarters of guests rate the property as very good or excellent on TripAdvisor and it would mean getting away from the chains and indulging in a more boutique contemporary experience for the City of Light. (That said my next stay in Paris will be at a chain because.. points.)
To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville over other hotels in Paris. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.
Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, October 30 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.
The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or Hotel Eugene en Ville. I will put the winner in touch with the prize provier for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance of these terms. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay in Paris. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!
I would love to win the auction for the 4 nights at Makunudu Island, Maldives.
3 NIGHTS AT BELLMERE ON RICHARDS, QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA sounds like a wonderful auction item !
The Hotel Eugene en Ville is in the center of Paris near the Opera Garnier! The location is a prime reason to pick this hotel over others in Paris. It would be lovely to stay there. The hotel looks spectacular and who wouldn’t want to stay in Paris at such a beautiful hotel for 4 nights?!
I would consider a stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville over other hotels as the concept and decorations of this hotel looks very chic and more unique than other hotels,
I would pick the Diamonds Mequfi Beach in Pemba, Mozambique. It looks like an amazing property at a destination I’ve always wanted to go!

7 night in a villa on the Greek island of Spetses
The last time I stayed in Paris (earlier this year) I was in a Starwood hotel (chain), didn’t get upgraded (was with my girlfriend – I always get upgraded when I’m alone – go figure), and it was a pitiful closet of a room. If I am selected, I will make her very happy to come back to Paris with me.
The Niramaya Spa looks wonderful! I think that would be a great place to stay.
I would the stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville in Paris. I have been looking for hours for a place to stay when we go in January. The dates work for me!!!!
Another reason I would stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville in Paris? I need to save as much money I can for all the crepes I am going to eat. I keep looking at the chains for points, but price wise, I can’t stop looking at AirBNB. Anyone have any experience? We are a family of four and are going in January.
The Hotel Eugene en Ville looks very unique boutique. We are going to Paris the first week of March…I would love to bring my husband here for his birthday. Thanks.
The Hotel Eugene en Ville looks like a great hotel to try in Paris. Sometimes you just have to try a non-chain.

My wife and I are planing a trip to Paris next year. The Hotel Eugene en Ville could be a great place to stay.
I would love to stay at the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires. Somehow I still haven’t been to mainland South America and heard great things about Buenos Aires.
I would like to stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville to experience a boutique hotel in a large city such as Paris. While chain hotels are great, I also really enjoy branching out and getting away from some of the cookie-cutter hotels. The hotel looks to be located in a great area and looks to be decorated very nicely.
I don’t care what hotel as long as it’s free and in Paris! What a great opportunity!
Auction: Two nights in Portugal.
The Paris hotel is well located.
Never stayed in a non-chain hotel in Paris before. Won’t mind trying Hotel Eugene en Ville.
My first choice would be 5 nights at Hotel Tres Palma De Mallorca, we were just in Palma last month and loved the city and wineries. Didn’t have time to visit the olive oil industry, or shops. We would love to get back there again.
I would love to win the 2 hour stay at the Minute Suites. That will be enough time for a quick nap and recharge.
Definitely 4 nights in the Maldives. Actually will bid on it also!
Hotel Eugene en Ville is near some fab shopping and close to transportation..
I’d love to stay at The Hotel Eugene en Ville Paris. i’ve been wanting to go to Paris.

I would choose Hotel Eugene en Ville over other hotels as it looks like a charming and intimate hotel. I much prefer boutique hotels over the large cookie cutter chains. And, the location of Hotel Eugene en Ville looks perfect.
I would go to the Eugene for the chance to enjoy crepes again and chocolate croissants.
My favorite auction is the 3 nights at Nona Lani Cottages, Kihei, Hawaii because Hawaii is my favorite place to vacation!
This stay at the Park Hyatt Istanbul looks like a lot of fun. https://www.luxurytraveldiary.com/auction/?ult_auc_id=15365
I would enjoy staying at the Hotel Eugene en Ville in Paris because I have never been to France and would appreciate a non-American hotel for accommodations.
The Hotel Eugene en Ville looks like my pick for a future stay in Paris. Modern, well appointed and in a great location, it looks hard to beat.
