Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains. Many of these are great auctions, without enough bidders, so the items go for way less than they should.
They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 4 night hotel stay in Paris for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.
Since Hyatt Gold Passport elite benefits generally are provided even on stays that do not earn elite credit, I love that there are auctions ending at Hyatt properties in Palm Springs, Goa, Shanghai, Istanbul, Buenos Aires, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Singapore and Jakarta.
Not to mention all the great non-chain properties. For instance, as of this writing 4 nights in the Maldives are going for less than US$650. 5 nights in the Cook Islands — ending in mere days — are going for under $200 (checked yesterday). 3 nights on Maui with auction ending Saturday is pricing at $130 as I type.
The giveaway:
Prize: 4 nights in Paris at Hotel Eugene en Ville in a superior room with private terrace including buffet breakfast. The winner can redeem subject to availability between November 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 (excluding December 31, January 19-24, February 14).
Hotel Eugene
While I haven’t stayed there I certainly would, it appears that three quarters of guests rate the property as very good or excellent on TripAdvisor and it would mean getting away from the chains and indulging in a more boutique contemporary experience for the City of Light. (That said my next stay in Paris will be at a chain because.. points.)
To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville over other hotels in Paris. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.
Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, October 30 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.
The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or Hotel Eugene en Ville. I will put the winner in touch with the prize provier for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance of these terms. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay in Paris. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!
I would stay in Maui at the Kihei Cottages!
Favorite auction item is Summerfields Rose Retreat in South Africa
I would stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville over other places, as I’m an artist and like independent hotels better than corporate ones.
I like this hotel’s courtyard.
I would get 3 nights in Provence for the action item.
My favorite is the 3 nights at the Grand Hyatt Doha
2nd favorite: 7 nights for 8 guests at the Villa Russelia in Rhodes
I would stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville because of its boutique feel.
I had no idea that Minute Suites existed until I saw it on the Luxury Travel Diary website. So, I am thinking it is pretty cool.
I love the modern design that mixes in the classic touches
With the dark walls Hotel Eugene en Ville looks like it would provide a good night’s sleep. That’s what I’m looking for in a quality accommodation.
I’m not normally a beach vacation person, but Makunudu Island in the Maldives looks amazing
Would love to return to Italy someday and explore a different side of the country, so the 7-night skiing trip in Sondrio sounds amazing..

I love the luxury villa in Aix-en-Provence! Heaven!
I would love to stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville just for the luxe decor and the private terrace!
PALMA DE MALLORCA, SPAIN!
I would stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville because the patio looks amazing, and my husband and I got engaged in Paris almost 13 years ago and haven’t been back since.
The Eugene en ville’s proximity to the metro and the positive reviews make it a winner.
I am headed to Maui this summer and could totally see myself in that cottage.
I would bid on the ‘7 NIGHTS FOR 8 GUESTS AT VILLA RUSSELIA IN RHODES, GREECE.’ Not only does it seem like a great deal because it allows 8 people, its also in one of the most beautiful places in the world, in a unique villa as opposed to a hotel chain. I would love to share that with my whole family!
Who wouldn’t love 4 nights in Paris?!
Hotel Eugene en Ville looks like a great location and a nice hotel to stay at in Paris. And a change from the usual chain hotels.
Who wouldn’t like 2 nights at the W Istanbul Hotel, Turkey? That’s where I’d head. Though I’m hoping for more than just 2 nights. 🙂
My favorite item on the auction is the 3 nights at Hope Town Lodge in the Bahamas
I would love to stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville for the private terrace
The Park Hyatt Buenos Aires looks like a great option from the auction
2 NIGHTS AT GRAND HARBOR INN, CAMDEN, MAINE
I’d stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville over other locations in Paris for its sleek decor, excellent location, and great restaurant.
My favorite auction is 4 nights in Maldives.
Or How about 7 nights of skiing in Italy at Hotel Moizi? Only 25 pounds sterling!
Of course the fine print says:
Please note: your stay must be taken between the 2nd – 9th January 2016 only.
So you only have a single choice of when to use it. Plus: Booking is subject to availability. Great thanks. Only a single week to use my week vacation and it may not even be available. I’m paying for what now?
Basically a scam in my opinion.
Gary,
Is this offer a marketing drive to foster awareness of this particular property or is it for the hotel or more so to participate in a charitable cause?
4 nights at the Maldives would be my auction choice
I would love to stay at the Benvengudo Luxury Hotel in Baux de Provence in the South of France. Of course, staying Hotel Eugene in Paris would be great as well.
The patio balcony at this hotel looks great
I’d love to stay at Waipuna Estate, Christchurch, New Zealand! Been dreaming about NZ for a while, and collecting points to go!

Hotel Eugene en Ville is absolutely gorgeous and would make any trip to Paris even more spectacular!
I would stay at the Park Hyatt Istanbul.
The Hotel Eugene en Ville looks really accessible to public transportation; being walking distance from the Opera is a no-brainer for me!
@Michael que – not sure I understand? The auction site provided the room nights to give away.
I would stay at this hotel for the breakfast.
My favorite auction Item is 3 nights in Aix En Provence because I love that area of France!
I’d stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville because I love boutique hotels.
I would love to stay at the Park Hyatt in Istanbul.
I would love to stay at the Hotel Moizi, Sondrio, Italy!
The Hotel Eugene en Ville is in a great location, private terrace a plus and not a chain hotel!
I want to give a big reward to the guy who found my gold ring. What a Good Samaritan! Also to eat croissants and drink coffee on the Champs Elysees.
The private terrace is awesome
Headed to Beijing soon, so I dig the Park Hyatt offer!
7 nights at the Fire Dragon Hideaway in Sri Lanka might just make me burn some miles to fly to Colombo.
I would stay at this hotel over others in Paris because it would be free!
