Awesome Luxury Auction Deals That Go Cheap and a 4 Night Paris Hotel Stay Giveaway!

Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains. Many of these are great auctions, without enough bidders, so the items go for way less than they should.

They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 4 night hotel stay in Paris for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.

Since Hyatt Gold Passport elite benefits generally are provided even on stays that do not earn elite credit, I love that there are auctions ending at Hyatt properties in Palm Springs, Goa, Shanghai, Istanbul, Buenos Aires, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Singapore and Jakarta.

Not to mention all the great non-chain properties. For instance, as of this writing 4 nights in the Maldives are going for less than US$650. 5 nights in the Cook Islands — ending in mere days — are going for under $200 (checked yesterday). 3 nights on Maui with auction ending Saturday is pricing at $130 as I type.

Check them out…

The giveaway:

Prize: 4 nights in Paris at Hotel Eugene en Ville in a superior room with private terrace including buffet breakfast. The winner can redeem subject to availability between November 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 (excluding December 31, January 19-24, February 14).

Hotel Eugene

While I haven’t stayed there I certainly would, it appears that three quarters of guests rate the property as very good or excellent on TripAdvisor and it would mean getting away from the chains and indulging in a more boutique contemporary experience for the City of Light. (That said my next stay in Paris will be at a chain because.. points.)

To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville over other hotels in Paris. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.

Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, October 30 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.

The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or Hotel Eugene en Ville. I will put the winner in touch with the prize provier for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance of these terms. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay in Paris. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!

  1. Hotel Eugene looks to have that nice Paris boutique hotel feel. So much better than those larger properties everyone and their large white dog traveling in F has been to:-)

  2. I’d love to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville because I love the 9th arrondissement neighborhood it’s in!

  3. I’d choose the 3 Nights In A Luxury Villa In Aix En Provence, France auction! Seems like a wonderful property at a steal of a price!

  4. My favorite item up for auction was “4 NIGHTS AT MAKUNUDU ISLAND, MALDIVES” – incredible value for the value offered! There are some really good finds on this site – I’ll bookmark it for the future travels.

  5. There are so many great options up for auction but I was drawn to the 4 Night Yacht Charter With Kalimba Caribbean Tours – a whole lot of fun I’m sure!

  6. The Hotel Eugene en Ville seems like a convenient place to stay with great access to the city!

  7. Boutique Hotels are almost always better than chains. The good ones just try harder to make your stay memorable. I’d stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville in a heartbeat.

  8. Love the South Pacific and haven’t been to Cook Islands yet, so this sounds like it could be fun:
5 NIGHTS AT IKURANGI ECO RETREAT

  9. Let’s be honest, I normally wouldn’t stay at a Boutique hotel unless I could get it free or substantially cheaper. However, if I won, I believe that would qualify the stay at Hotel Eugene as free. I would love the opportunity to try somewhere new in Paris and the Hotel looks very nice.

  10. Greece is on my travel bucket list so I’m interested in the 7 NIGHTS IN A VILLA ON THE GREEK ISLAND OF SPETSES auction

  11. The charm of boutique hotels are what make a stay in Paris memorable. One gets a taste of how life is lived among the privileged who actually live in that great city. And I’d stay at Hotel Eugene En Ville ( if you say it fast, it sounds like Envy) i’ll have the boasting right when I come home to California.

  12. 7 nights at Fire Dragon Hideaway, Sri Lanka… I’ve never been to Sri Lanka and I could use one of the Dubai based carriers to get there in biz.

  13. I’d choose to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville over other hotels in Paris because it’s walking distance to a very useful train station and walking distance to my favorite (urban) sitting area, along Rue Fenelon.

  14. Hotel Eugene en Ville looks fun as an alternative to the chain hotels I usually have stayed in around France.

  15. Haven’t stayed in the 9th in a while. I’m always up for revisiting Paris and for the Hotel Eugene en Ville!

  16. 4 nights in a luxury apartment in North Yorkshire would allow me to take the lump of coal Santa leaves me to Newcastle (not to mention it would be a convenient jumping off spot for Scotland and the distilleries!).

  17. I’m not an opera fan, but Hotel Eugene en Ville looks to be centrally located and close to a metro stop. I’d much rather stay someplace like this than a hudh chain property.

  18. I’d stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville because it looks so chic, plus is so centrally located!

  19. What a great giveaway! Paris hotels are often quite expensive. The private terrace at Hotel Eugene looks amazing. What a great way to spend four nights.

  20. Hotel Eugene en ville has interesting black walls. The combination of the lights over the pillow with the walls looks like a smiling face. Cool!

  21. I’d stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville because my girlfriend would literally love to stay there, and so would I.

    Thanks!!!

  22. I would love to stay at the 7 NIGHTS AT FIRE DRAGON HIDEAWAY, SRI LANKA for the food and relaxation.
