Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains. Many of these are great auctions, without enough bidders, so the items go for way less than they should.
They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 4 night hotel stay in Paris for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.
Since Hyatt Gold Passport elite benefits generally are provided even on stays that do not earn elite credit, I love that there are auctions ending at Hyatt properties in Palm Springs, Goa, Shanghai, Istanbul, Buenos Aires, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Singapore and Jakarta.
Not to mention all the great non-chain properties. For instance, as of this writing 4 nights in the Maldives are going for less than US$650. 5 nights in the Cook Islands — ending in mere days — are going for under $200 (checked yesterday). 3 nights on Maui with auction ending Saturday is pricing at $130 as I type.
The giveaway:
Prize: 4 nights in Paris at Hotel Eugene en Ville in a superior room with private terrace including buffet breakfast. The winner can redeem subject to availability between November 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 (excluding December 31, January 19-24, February 14).
Hotel Eugene
While I haven’t stayed there I certainly would, it appears that three quarters of guests rate the property as very good or excellent on TripAdvisor and it would mean getting away from the chains and indulging in a more boutique contemporary experience for the City of Light. (That said my next stay in Paris will be at a chain because.. points.)
To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville over other hotels in Paris. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.
Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, October 30 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.
The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or Hotel Eugene en Ville. I will put the winner in touch with the prize provier for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance of these terms. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay in Paris. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!
I would bid on 5 nights at teh Arcotel Onyx in Hamburg. Never been and that hotel looks picturesque.

I would love to win the 2 Nights In A Park Suite At Park Hyatt Buenos Aires. We are heading down to Florianopolis, Brazil in a month and can easily use Delta miles for a direct flight to EZE. I think the Park Hyatt Beunos Aires looks just amazing with the views, decor and history. We have had friends who stayed there before and loved it. Would love to experience such a wonderful property.
The Maldives auction is my personal fav. Nights there usually go for $1k+ How is it not a good deal!

My son who’s 19mo would love to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville. The wall decal looks amazing and he would have a blast tracing the boarders with his little fingers!
I’m staying at the Hotel Eugene because I’ll get more of the flavor of the locals by staying at a local hotel. Can’t beat it.
4 nights at Makunudu is my favorite right now.
Oh and the “2 NIGHTS AT SUMMERFIELDS ROSE RETREAT, SOUTH AFRICA” location auction is simply awesome!!!
My husband and I did a mini road trip in Italy 2 years ago and we plan on doing another next summer. We would love to drive around south of france and experience the food and culture. 6 LUXURY NIGHTS AT BENVENGUDO NR AVIGNON, SOUTH OF FRANCE would be an awesome auction to make it happen.
As others have mentioned, the private terrace looks sweet! Also, the relatively central location is nice.
the Hotel Eugene en Ville looks like a wonderful hotel in a great location in Paris.
I absolutely love the Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires. My wife and I stayed last January for a couple of nights and really enjoyed it. I’m watching the auction of 2 nights in a Park Suite!!
Hôtel Eugène en Ville reminds me of Night Hotel in NYC. But in a way better location! Love the black and white mix!
Probably the Cook Islands. Its the only place on earth my wife would visit if she didn’t have to cook
Three nights in a luxury villa in Aix looks tempting. And reminds me I need to start planning a trip to Provence!

I would stay at the Hotel Eugene because boutique hotels give you a local flavor and the location really can’t be beat!
I’d stay at the hotel because of it’s location in the 9th Arrondissement, which is close to many bars.
