Awesome Luxury Auction Deals That Go Cheap and a 4 Night Paris Hotel Stay Giveaway!

Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains. Many of these are great auctions, without enough bidders, so the items go for way less than they should.

They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 4 night hotel stay in Paris for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.

Since Hyatt Gold Passport elite benefits generally are provided even on stays that do not earn elite credit, I love that there are auctions ending at Hyatt properties in Palm Springs, Goa, Shanghai, Istanbul, Buenos Aires, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Singapore and Jakarta.

Not to mention all the great non-chain properties. For instance, as of this writing 4 nights in the Maldives are going for less than US$650. 5 nights in the Cook Islands — ending in mere days — are going for under $200 (checked yesterday). 3 nights on Maui with auction ending Saturday is pricing at $130 as I type.

Check them out…

The giveaway:

Prize: 4 nights in Paris at Hotel Eugene en Ville in a superior room with private terrace including buffet breakfast. The winner can redeem subject to availability between November 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 (excluding December 31, January 19-24, February 14).

Hotel Eugene

While I haven’t stayed there I certainly would, it appears that three quarters of guests rate the property as very good or excellent on TripAdvisor and it would mean getting away from the chains and indulging in a more boutique contemporary experience for the City of Light. (That said my next stay in Paris will be at a chain because.. points.)

To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville over other hotels in Paris. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.

Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, October 30 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.

The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or Hotel Eugene en Ville. I will put the winner in touch with the prize provier for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance of these terms. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay in Paris. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!

  1. I would definitely bid on the 4 nights in the Maldives- for that price you simply can’t beat it. Amazing!

  2. 3 Nights At Bellmere On Richards, Queensland Australia, well because they have pictures of kangaroos, and I freakng love kangaroos! It would be sweet to win that!

  3. The Hotel Eugene en Ville is in a great location and seems to have some real style to it. I would love to stay there.

  4. I’d choose the Hotel Eugene because of its design. Their black and white modern look is almost identical to how we’ve designed our home. It would be nice to have that cozy feeling while staying in such a romantic city!

  5. Well, I’d certainly stay in the hotel if it’s free! That sounds like a great reason to me.

  6. We’re already going to Paris in December, and being able to stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville would certainly be a wonderful Christmas present 🙂

Location seems excellent and those terraces are gorgeous.

  7. I would love to stay in Hôtel Eugène en Ville — looks pretty hip to me and very local! Other than that, would like to try Park Hyatty Vendome but I think you weren’t impressed with it?

    Thanks!
    Andrew

  8. I would stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville for:

    Excellent location
    Stylish and chic
    Onsite canteen

  9. The Hôtel Eugène en Ville is in a fantastic location and it is a boutique hotel. What more can I ask for!

  10. I’d love to stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville because I will otherwise have to stay at a shady Choice on the outskirts of town on my upcoming trip that I was tipped off to by this site (~$440 business to LHR; added on avios flights to Paris).

  11. At the moment my favorite item on Luxury Travel Diary is “7 Nights In A Villa On The Greek Island Of Spetses”.

  12. The 3 Nights At Hope Town Lodge, Bahamas up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary looks really fun and would be my favorite item up for auction right now.

  13. The rooms at Hotel Eugene en Ville look really modern, and I love the bedding. This would make me choose this hotel over others in Paris.

  14. I do have one comment for this site….. the design is gorgeous, and as a power user of travel sites, I suggest:

    – user tests for your search function.
    – considering a more robust search functionality to make properties easily searchable for more specific or multiple parameters (type of property, location by country or city, etc.)

Example: I’d love to search for a specific country and see all the properties in that country. I search “France” but the search function seems limited to the wording in the title. In this case, when searching “France”, if the title says only Paris, I would not see this property.

  15. I would stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville because it is nice to stay in a local boutique hotel rather than a chain hotel, and because of its great location.

  16. I would choose to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville because I am going to Paris and I need a place to stay! XD

  17. I would stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville because i love the location. The 9th is a great base to explore Paris.

  18. The Hotel Eugene en Ville would be an awesome hotel in Paris because it seems like a very personal botique hotel that could give great recommendations to make a visit to Paris even more special

  19. I would choose to stay at Hotel Eugene en Ville also because I have a feeling I will get randomly chosen for the stay there, its a Win Win situation!

  20. I’d stay at the Hotel Eugene en Ville because the location (9th Arrondissement) holds special memories for me. This is where I stayed on the first stop of my very first trip abroad as an adult – 14 years ago, with a Youth EurailPass, erasable pen, and a borrowed backpack. I’d love to return!
