I’m usually an Avis guy (recent problems notwithstanding). But sometimes the rates from other car companies are just too good.
I recently booked a colleague on a 13-day full size rental with Budget that came to $295 — that’s $22.69 a day including taxes and fees. Their United Airlines special offer gives miles and a real 10% – 15% off the best web rate.
Not always useful, but one for the arsenal.
I recently rented a car from Budget in Providence, RI. While my experience with Budtget is normally good, this was, without a doubt, the worst run Budget Rental car location in the country. I will never rent from this location again. It took over 1 hour to get my car and I am a Fastbreak member. To make matters worse, the lady handling customer service was rude and completely befuddled as the whole day appeared to be a disaster. I wondered where a Manager was in the place as they had a lot of Budget people running around in what appeared to be complete and utter chaos. Finally, they must have rented me the wrong car according to waht had been set up in advance as I was assessed a toll violation for someone driving my car in Newark, NJ while I had never left the Providence area.
Way to add insult to injury Budget!
I rented a car from Budget Ireland this summer. The reservation counter had given me a special price because I am using a Amex Gold card. But the guy at Shannon Airport did not accept it and I had to pay twice the amount. Any other rental company could have done a better deal. Be careful when renting car at Budget Shannon Airport!!!
$23 a day is a steal. i wonder how budget makes money off that if you dont get the insurance coverage or any upgrade charges.
