Earlier I wrote about business class roundtrips to London for less than $1500.
It turns out that you can fly to other destinations in Europe as well with this deal, and you can do it for even less money.
This makes use of the British Airways usiness class sale between the US and Europe for 2 passengers. To get the best pricing:
- You have to be an AARP member and log into your account, this discount is why I pay my fee to be an Associate (‘under 50’) member. Go through the AARP portal, then book your tickets, the premium cabin sale pricing will come up with the appropriate AARP discount embedded.
- Eligible Chase credit card holders can use promo code CARDOFFERU from the co-brand Visa to take 10% off.
Here’s New York – barcelona for $1385 roundtrip per person:
In many cases business class comes out cheaper than coach.
And certainly business class during the winter (the sale has dates through January 14 and again over the summer available, but the AARP discount requires travel by March) offers fares that are comparable to what you often see for coach in summer.
New York – Paris and New York – Madrid come out to under $1500 per person roundtrip. Washington Dulles and Boston – London come out to just over $1500.
I’ve upgraded these sorts of tickets to first class using miles before.
However if you’re originating in London British Airways has first class on sale as well. (HT: One Mile at a Time)
You need to book by November 28 for travel between December 18 and January 6 (that’s not a big window and corresponds with the death of business travel for the holidays).
For instance, you can book London – Boston, New York JFK, or Washington Dulles in first class for $2249 roundtrip.
Destinations farther West than Chicago are more, for instance Denver is available from $2547 roundtrip.
Unfortunately these first class fares aren’t available originating in the US — but even better business class fares are.
The AARP discount isn’t limited to travel by March. I just booked round-trip in September, and the AARP discount worked fine, as did the Chase 10% discount as well.
Which Chase cards have the 10% discount?
How did you get the extra 10%. I got.
You may not use CARDOFFERU with one or more of the airlines operating your chosen flights
