News and notes from around the interweb:
- United pilots union breaks from counterparts at American, Southwest to defend Boeing and the 737 MAX
- Chase Offers are very similar to Amex offers. There are targeted rebates for your spend with specific merchants, and you have to ‘add them’ to your account in order to qualify. That way they don’t hand out money through happenstance to people who didn’t even know there was an offer.
With Chase you can only see the offers logging in through their mobile app. And offers may vary for your different Chase accounts. I didn’t get this one on my World of Hyatt Credit Card so I’m sure jealous:
@Drofcredit hey guys! Looks like Chase Offers is stepping up. I have a 20% off Hyatt bookings on my WoH card. pic.twitter.com/JKFR1xerkI

- United will hold 33 events in Chicago with flight attendants as part of an effort to improve customer service at the same time they’re reducing flight attendant staffing in business class, so which is it United?
- Troubled Chinese conglomerate HNA Group, which parlayed Hainan Airlines into a global travel empire from airlines to hotel chains to catering, sold $43 billion in assets during 2018 yet is still handing out travel vouchers in lieu of interest payments.
- Odd scheme: Using stolen credit card numbers to book hotel rooms, then re-selling those rooms for cash perhaps aided by mobile check-in and keyless entry?
- Your American Airlines pilot wants you to know: blame management, not the crew.

I appreciate your post and helpful information to know what I may be missing out on
Unfortunately I don’t like that after 10 plus years with Chase they don’t tell me I need to have an app downloaded to be fully engaged with them to get the benefits I pay for.
With annual fees on their cards approaching 1000 dollars annually across the cards I have with them it might be nice if a single phone agent or email might actually let me know
I got exhale spa 20% back, max $28. Sorta like Hyatt, right?
I don’t do cell phone apps. Not sure why. Oh, because it’s a work phone. One day I will take my Chase business to AMEX, but right now I can’t afford to lose the Chase rewards.
I owned a home for 18 years, never once late on the mortgage payments. Sold in 2006 and all 3 credit bureaus recently removed this and say I have no recent credit? Then dropped my scores nearly 200 points, I’m retired, haven’t borrowed. I knew i had to do something to get back on track and I read about Cyberhack005@gmailCOM on many credit score blog who had helped so many people, I finally give him a try. I wrote a letter for each thing on my credit report basically, and he gave me the assurance that he will fix these It look weird to me at first but a month later my credit which was 475 increased to 825 which I also confirm on all three credit bureau
Where do you go to buy stolen hotel rooms at a discount and will the sellers be able to add your account to the stay so you can still get credit?
My problem with Chase Offers (same as BofA offers) is that they are mostly for 10% while AMEX is usually at least 20%
The other negative is the expiry date is not a ‘use by date’ but a ‘pay by date’ and are a one time use even if you do not max out the offer amount
