A couple of weeks ago I wrote that American Express Platinum cards would still get you into US Airways and American lounges through the end of April.
Platinum cards lost access a month ago. Citibank is now the sole issuer of cards that offer lounge access with the new American Airlines.
And they’ve got – by far – the best credit card offer in the market with a 100,000 mile signup bonus for their Executive Card which bundles American and US Airways lounge access.
This month they’re ready to tell you about this card in American and US Airways lounges. If you come in with a card that used to come with lounge access, they’ll give you a club pass (valid for a year).
They’ve also given me plenty of miles and club passes to give away here on the blog!
I stopped into one club yesterday. And I discovered that they weren’t just giving away lounge passes (I picked one up that I’ll give away this weekend at Frequent Traveler University) but also giving away swag. They had dark chocolate in credit card wrappers. I ate that.

I figured, since Citi is being especially generous right now, why not share that with readers? I reached out they’ve generously offered to provide readers with miles and lounge passes for me to give away (for full disclosure I am not being compensated by Citibank, nor am I keeping any of the prizes for myself).
Here are the prizes:
- Grand Prize: 25,000 American AAdvantage miles and 4 American Admirals Club passes
- Four Additional Prizes: 4 American Admirals Club passes (each)
So here’s how you enter.
- Leave a comment on this blog post. Answer the question, “what do you really like about an airline lounge?”
- Enter by Noon Eastern, Sunday April 27. That’s 5 days from this writing, and there are five prizes.
- Enter no more than 5 times. Five prizes, five days to enter, you can enter by commenting up to five times. (It doesn’t have to be one per day, it can be five in a row if you wish.)
- Five prize winners will be drawn at random. As in past, I will use random.org for the drawing.
- Fine print. Void where prohibited by law. All of my decisions are final and unappealable, I want to make giveaways as easy as possible and with the fewest headaches possible. Redemption of Admirals Club passes are subject to Admirals Club Terms of Service and AAdvantage miles are subject to AAdvantage program terms.
So, what do you really like about an airline lounge?

They are an oasis in the middle of chaos.
What I most like are the showers, when I’m spending the night or most of it as a layover.
Free wifi!
Honor bar!
Showers…
My favorite part of an airline lounge is a quiet place to charge my phone and/or tablet. I am addicted to technology and there is nothing like being able to plug in and work while relaxing instead of hunting down an outlet in the terminal.
What I really like about air port lounges is that when I take my teenage sons the free cokes and snacks make them feel like VIPs
Concierge service!
I really love the comfy chairs
Being able to take a shower after a long flight.
Peace and quiet..
They get you away from the hoardes of people at the gates!!
A quiet place to relax/work when otherwise I’d be sitting at the gate.
Never been in a lounge…would like to see how the 1% fly.
Showers and the occasional food.
Convenience, help at hand when you need it, familiarity once you’re a regular.
Wifi, snacks, a place to recharge devices and me!
For our household, separate “Family Rooms” are always a huge benefit!
Free, mostly decent WiFi plus drinks of they got ’em.
Play areas for the kids when traveling with them.
Comfortable seats
Free drinks
Beer and snacks
Best thing is usually the shower after a long haul flight, next is a quiet space to have a drink.
Free wifi!
A quiet place away from the chaos that I can rely on to provide me a (comfortable!) place to sit, gather my thoughts and plan for the next phase of my journey.
Thank you
For the great
Great place for long layovers and comfortable area with free wifi and a glass of wine
I like eating a bunch of snacks.
Peace and quiet!
I went to the Admirals Club in MIA last week, I showed the front desk agents my Platinum Amex and they told me I couldn’t get in. I told them that I have read about the club pass for cards that used to have access like the one I was showing to them, they said, that they didn’t know anything about that. That AA decision was “very set in stone”. Maybe they haven’t got the memo yet?

Better help with reservations!
Happier people inside!
I like the free alcoholic drinks
A quiet place to relax and reliable wifi
