A couple of weeks ago I wrote that American Express Platinum cards would still get you into US Airways and American lounges through the end of April.
Platinum cards lost access a month ago. Citibank is now the sole issuer of cards that offer lounge access with the new American Airlines.
And they’ve got – by far – the best credit card offer in the market with a 100,000 mile signup bonus for their Executive Card which bundles American and US Airways lounge access.
This month they’re ready to tell you about this card in American and US Airways lounges. If you come in with a card that used to come with lounge access, they’ll give you a club pass (valid for a year).
They’ve also given me plenty of miles and club passes to give away here on the blog!
I stopped into one club yesterday. And I discovered that they weren’t just giving away lounge passes (I picked one up that I’ll give away this weekend at Frequent Traveler University) but also giving away swag. They had dark chocolate in credit card wrappers. I ate that.

I figured, since Citi is being especially generous right now, why not share that with readers? I reached out they’ve generously offered to provide readers with miles and lounge passes for me to give away (for full disclosure I am not being compensated by Citibank, nor am I keeping any of the prizes for myself).
Here are the prizes:
- Grand Prize: 25,000 American AAdvantage miles and 4 American Admirals Club passes
- Four Additional Prizes: 4 American Admirals Club passes (each)
So here’s how you enter.
- Leave a comment on this blog post. Answer the question, “what do you really like about an airline lounge?”
- Enter by Noon Eastern, Sunday April 27. That’s 5 days from this writing, and there are five prizes.
- Enter no more than 5 times. Five prizes, five days to enter, you can enter by commenting up to five times. (It doesn’t have to be one per day, it can be five in a row if you wish.)
- Five prize winners will be drawn at random. As in past, I will use random.org for the drawing.
- Fine print. Void where prohibited by law. All of my decisions are final and unappealable, I want to make giveaways as easy as possible and with the fewest headaches possible. Redemption of Admirals Club passes are subject to Admirals Club Terms of Service and AAdvantage miles are subject to AAdvantage program terms.
So, what do you really like about an airline lounge?

The AAngels that are more patient than the gate agents

Free drinks
Never been in an airline lounge, so the best feature is to look forward being in one and see what the fuss is about!
Free wifi!
Affordable airport food
Premium feel
Relatively more quiet than being out in the terminal.
Comfortable seating to sleep in!
Restrooms that can usually be counted on to be in better shape than those in the terminal.
I love the showers!
Easy – PEACE AND QUIET. If the lounge in any way resembles the madness surrounding most gates, it’s a complete waste. Bonus if it has comfortable seats, a few complimentary beverages, and strong wifi.
Hot food!
Nutella and Biscoff (well that’s Delta, but…)
Free stuffs
Good juice bar and some veg&cheese snacks.
I like being away from the crowds in the lounges.
salty snacks
Water (since its tsa contraband!)
Peace and quiet
newspapers – yes, I am the one person left that still reads the hard copy versions
free food and drinks!
Sleeping rooms
Help and karma during Incidents
More drinks than just water
Favorite thing #1 about AA lounges: the free wi-fi
Easy changes to flights when there are problems.
I love it all. Mostly the quiet and comfort.
Quiet place to work and eat amidst the chaos that is airline travel
Free Wifi/peace and quiet
There is always a place to sit which is not necessarily the case near the gate.
It humanizes the travel experience.
I love the relative peace and quiet that comes with being in a lounge!
Free food!
Respite from the chaos of the airport.
Favorite thing #2 about AA lounges: agents that can help you quickly when something goes wrong with your trip
Relative peace and quiet.
I can watch the news.
Agent that know what they’re doing!
Sometimes there is a shower – aah.
what i love most about an airline lounge is the peace and quiet, that zen feeling before you’re going up into the air. i live in a big city and there’s enough bustle around me all the time, so it’s also kind of like a mini vacation! the lounge is a big part of the trip for me, whether i’m traveling for business or pleasure. thanks!
Free wifi, drinks & snacks
beverages at a price (zero!) much lower than in the terminal
Snacks!
Free wifi, drinks & snacks!
The clean and uncrowded bathrooms.
No1 – Showers… there is nothing that makes long trips better than being able to wash the TSA humiliation off.
Quiet place (or quieter) to return calls before flight
It’s a quiet place to wait in chaotic and dirty airports.
The extra space is a huge plus!
