A couple of weeks ago I wrote that American Express Platinum cards would still get you into US Airways and American lounges through the end of April.
Platinum cards lost access a month ago. Citibank is now the sole issuer of cards that offer lounge access with the new American Airlines.
And they’ve got – by far – the best credit card offer in the market with a 100,000 mile signup bonus for their Executive Card which bundles American and US Airways lounge access.
This month they’re ready to tell you about this card in American and US Airways lounges. If you come in with a card that used to come with lounge access, they’ll give you a club pass (valid for a year).
They’ve also given me plenty of miles and club passes to give away here on the blog!
I stopped into one club yesterday. And I discovered that they weren’t just giving away lounge passes (I picked one up that I’ll give away this weekend at Frequent Traveler University) but also giving away swag. They had dark chocolate in credit card wrappers. I ate that.

I figured, since Citi is being especially generous right now, why not share that with readers? I reached out they’ve generously offered to provide readers with miles and lounge passes for me to give away (for full disclosure I am not being compensated by Citibank, nor am I keeping any of the prizes for myself).
Here are the prizes:
- Grand Prize: 25,000 American AAdvantage miles and 4 American Admirals Club passes
- Four Additional Prizes: 4 American Admirals Club passes (each)
So here’s how you enter.
- Leave a comment on this blog post. Answer the question, “what do you really like about an airline lounge?”
- Enter by Noon Eastern, Sunday April 27. That’s 5 days from this writing, and there are five prizes.
- Enter no more than 5 times. Five prizes, five days to enter, you can enter by commenting up to five times. (It doesn’t have to be one per day, it can be five in a row if you wish.)
- Five prize winners will be drawn at random. As in past, I will use random.org for the drawing.
- Fine print. Void where prohibited by law. All of my decisions are final and unappealable, I want to make giveaways as easy as possible and with the fewest headaches possible. Redemption of Admirals Club passes are subject to Admirals Club Terms of Service and AAdvantage miles are subject to AAdvantage program terms.
So, what do you really like about an airline lounge?

They are the best place to relax just before your flight if you’re flying domestically, and when you land on a layover internationally you’re able to refresh yourself for the rest of your journey!
A total one stop shop for refueling (relaxing, grabbing a bite to eat and drink). Some also give you awesome views of the airports and operations!
Quiet place to read or check your e-mails and even be able to print out documents.
After a red-eye, best place to grab a few ZzZzZz if you have time before continuing onto your final destination.
Favorite part is the lack of background noise. It is so much quieter inside a lounge that it makes traveling relaxing and refreshing.
Awesome place to meet new people that love to travel.
I enjoy the entirety of the lounge benefits, from food/drinks, increased privacy, ability to grab a shower, the wifi, and more. These perks are quite impressive to obtain as easily as signing up to a credit card and completing a spending requirement. Can’t beat that.
Nice place to relax away from hustle and bustle (and away from the peons…;)
I like the peace and quiet of the lounge.
Hot shower!
It’s a quiet place to escape from the craziness of the airport a little.
They make delays SO much more palatable. (and this winter there were a LOT of delays—glad not to lose Amex platinum lounge access until march, since it got a lot of use this winter!).
Being able to get away from everyone else!
Some International lounge has some nice food and great coffee.
Free food and drinks.
Convenient electrical outlet to charge my devices.
Hot shower.

I have never been in an airport lounge so I have no idea.
Get away and rest!

Ability to access agents in case of IRROP.
Re-booking! A real key is things go wrong!
I like that it’s a sanctuary…
…away from the hustle and bustle of the terminal.
I enjoy being able to wind down after doing the security dance…
Internet access, more space and the snacks.
…and board relaxed and “in the zone.”
Free beer. Free wine. Free snacks. In that order. Oh yes, sometimes they help rebook during IRROPS.
the kids areas!
I find lounge agents more helpful than those in the terminal, if I need to make changes or ask something about my trip.
The free food
Showers showers showers
drinks drinks drinks!
Love the quiet(er) environment and complimentary drinks!
And occasionally a warm shower!
