A couple of weeks ago I wrote that American Express Platinum cards would still get you into US Airways and American lounges through the end of April.
Platinum cards lost access a month ago. Citibank is now the sole issuer of cards that offer lounge access with the new American Airlines.
And they’ve got – by far – the best credit card offer in the market with a 100,000 mile signup bonus for their Executive Card which bundles American and US Airways lounge access.
This month they’re ready to tell you about this card in American and US Airways lounges. If you come in with a card that used to come with lounge access, they’ll give you a club pass (valid for a year).
They’ve also given me plenty of miles and club passes to give away here on the blog!
I stopped into one club yesterday. And I discovered that they weren’t just giving away lounge passes (I picked one up that I’ll give away this weekend at Frequent Traveler University) but also giving away swag. They had dark chocolate in credit card wrappers. I ate that.
I figured, since Citi is being especially generous right now, why not share that with readers? I reached out they’ve generously offered to provide readers with miles and lounge passes for me to give away (for full disclosure I am not being compensated by Citibank, nor am I keeping any of the prizes for myself).
Here are the prizes:
- Grand Prize: 25,000 American AAdvantage miles and 4 American Admirals Club passes
- Four Additional Prizes: 4 American Admirals Club passes (each)
So here’s how you enter.
- Leave a comment on this blog post. Answer the question, “what do you really like about an airline lounge?”
- Enter by Noon Eastern, Sunday April 27. That’s 5 days from this writing, and there are five prizes.
- Enter no more than 5 times. Five prizes, five days to enter, you can enter by commenting up to five times. (It doesn’t have to be one per day, it can be five in a row if you wish.)
- Five prize winners will be drawn at random. As in past, I will use random.org for the drawing.
- Fine print. Void where prohibited by law. All of my decisions are final and unappealable, I want to make giveaways as easy as possible and with the fewest headaches possible. Redemption of Admirals Club passes are subject to Admirals Club Terms of Service and AAdvantage miles are subject to AAdvantage program terms.

Knowing that I don’t have to hunt for snacks, seating, wifi and outlets.
Of course, this only holds true about 80% of the time 🙂
It’s a whole lot less noisy then the main terminals
Getting free food
Free liquor
Comfort and relaxation
Better seating
Less kids
Have never had the opportunity to try a lounge. Would love to!
When travelling internationally, it’d have to be the showers!
I like that I have access to a lounge. That alone is a great lift!
One thing stands out, a gym/exercise room. I’ve intentionally booked longer than necessary connections so that I’d have time to get in a quick workout in between flights. Unfortunately, I can think of one lounge in the world that has a gym, though perhaps there are others.
Relaxation among the airport chaos
It has got to be the showers after a long flight overseas. The espresso machine is great also
wifi
Free snacks/drinks.
I like that it is a nice quiet and relaxing place. After all the rush and frenetic energy of going through security, lounges offer a place to decompress.
Relaxing in a more comfortable seat.
I like that it is a nice quiet and relaxing place.
Free wifi
I like that you are in your own place away from the crowds.
You have a place you can freshen up that is clean and comfortable.
Cozy chairs and honor bar.
Free wifi
The showers and nice bathrooms!
Yummy food!
More comfortable seating.
A less stressful and busy environment.
Using the airline lounges is part of why we care about earning points/miles. It’s the perk that stood out than most general area. But that aside, it’s like a sanctuary in the midst of chaos. 🙂
the (relatively) less-stressed staff.
Elbow room
Free snacks!
I like that they’re usually much quieter and less crowded than the gate areas.
I’ll be honest: it’s the booze.
Snacks/Drinks etc that don’t cost an arm & leg (usually free)
I like a good free drink on a patio overlooking the airport.
Good coffee and a nice seat to do some plane spotting from.
Having a gin and tonic before my flight.
take a cat nap on a comfy chair
catch up on work email w free wifi
gain a pound w free snacks and coffee and drinks!
act like you’re a baller when you’re really not because you earned it using a credit card.
Comfy place to park our tired bodies
Showers after a long flight
in case of cancelled flights, usually there is a shorter CS line.
some have good free booze
Some have good free food
Free wifi
I most like, as in the BA and VS business class lounges, the opportunity to have a good meal before boarding an overnight flight, so I can spend the whole flight sleeping.
