A couple of weeks ago I wrote that American Express Platinum cards would still get you into US Airways and American lounges through the end of April.
Platinum cards lost access a month ago. Citibank is now the sole issuer of cards that offer lounge access with the new American Airlines.
And they’ve got – by far – the best credit card offer in the market with a 100,000 mile signup bonus for their Executive Card which bundles American and US Airways lounge access.
This month they’re ready to tell you about this card in American and US Airways lounges. If you come in with a card that used to come with lounge access, they’ll give you a club pass (valid for a year).
They’ve also given me plenty of miles and club passes to give away here on the blog!
I stopped into one club yesterday. And I discovered that they weren’t just giving away lounge passes (I picked one up that I’ll give away this weekend at Frequent Traveler University) but also giving away swag. They had dark chocolate in credit card wrappers. I ate that.
I figured, since Citi is being especially generous right now, why not share that with readers? I reached out they’ve generously offered to provide readers with miles and lounge passes for me to give away (for full disclosure I am not being compensated by Citibank, nor am I keeping any of the prizes for myself).
Here are the prizes:
- Grand Prize: 25,000 American AAdvantage miles and 4 American Admirals Club passes
- Four Additional Prizes: 4 American Admirals Club passes (each)
So here’s how you enter.
- Leave a comment on this blog post. Answer the question, “what do you really like about an airline lounge?”
- Enter by Noon Eastern, Sunday April 27. That’s 5 days from this writing, and there are five prizes.
- Enter no more than 5 times. Five prizes, five days to enter, you can enter by commenting up to five times. (It doesn’t have to be one per day, it can be five in a row if you wish.)
- Five prize winners will be drawn at random. As in past, I will use random.org for the drawing.
- Fine print. Void where prohibited by law. All of my decisions are final and unappealable, I want to make giveaways as easy as possible and with the fewest headaches possible. Redemption of Admirals Club passes are subject to Admirals Club Terms of Service and AAdvantage miles are subject to AAdvantage program terms.
So, what do you really like about an airline lounge?

Relaxation away from the noise of the terminal. And SOME lounges have smoking areas — yes, I’m one of THOSE people!!!
Outlets for recharging devices.
Third is free food
Power plugs so I can charge my phone and laptop.
good work
Forget the Wifi and alcohol. What I really want is fresh fruit, yogurt, and some breads. Travel is terrible for my health, so having access to healthful products (I’m glaring at you, cheeses) is a great benefit. I’ve left lounges to go to the terminal to pick up some fruit before when all that was available was old/slimy or when there wasn’t any.
I could really use these points! I need a vacation!
quiet and calmer
The availability of “adult beverages.”
A shower after a LONG flight is priceless!!!
I love getting away for the trauma
Getting away from the stress of the masses rushing through the airport
Quiet areas for relaxation.
I love the snacks.
Shower before and after flight, snacks and drinks, wifi, great and quiet place to work, magazines to read, tv to watch, basically a great place to kill time before or in between flights.
Free wifi!!
I really like the extra space and decent seating and less noise.
So i dont have to travel with the plebs.
Also the free food and snacks and drinks and booze!
They usually have a better view of plane ops than anywhere else in the airport.
And the easy access to gates too!
I also love the lounges that have more than snack, they have real food.
Amazingly enough, I’ve never flown on American. This would be one great way to start!
Free drinks.
just a relaxing and quiet place (if possible)
Also, the chance to have a a better view of plane operations from the lounge!
And free showers!!
Showers and good seating make my trip very nice.
Plug for electronics, food that is more than snacks and a shower after a long flight.
A nice breeze(chaos) in a mist of possible chaos..
free wifi, outlets, and yummy snacks!
If its an international club, then a drink and some nice finger food before a long-haul flight
I enjoy fewer gate announcements.
I like that there in generel are better comfort in the seating/relaxing area.
free wifi, outlets, and snacks
Clean bathrooms, wifi, and snacks!
Leaving the crowds of the terminal behind.
A quiet place to work and relax during layovers, away from the hustle and bustle of the terminals.
A place to relax and power up all my electronic devices. A view of the tarmac is a plus.
What I most value is the silence compared to the outside and the confort of the chairs. After that it would be the service and food and power outlets :)!
the best lounge experience i’ve had was a LH business lounge in FRA. they had beer on tap, a smoking area and internet. that was better to me than the concord lounge in LHR a few days later.
Wi-Fi that actually works!
Unlimited cup o’ noodles in the lounge at Papeete airport in Tahiti. No question.
Free drinks and snacks to hold me over on the flight.
Shower during long transits
AAngels that can sometimes help you out when gate agents tell you there is nothing that can be done.
Free Wifi!
Cleaner bathrooms and sometimes showers are really nice during a long layover.
Free wine
Comfy seats
