Earlier in the month Hyatt Gold Passport announced a great new partnership with MGM’s M Life program. Gold Passport members can earn and redeem points at the 12 Las Vegas M Life properties. And starting in August there’s reciprocal status as well. Which is great, because I’m not an especially high roller so the M Life status will help me feel a bit more like Sinatra around that city or at least around MGM’s properties (“Don’t you know who I am?!” :).
The major hotel chains are hugely underrepresented on the Vegas strip (though Marriott has Cosmopolitan and IHG has the Venetian). This hotel program “codesharing” fills a real gap — it instantly gives Hyatt the biggest major chain loyalty program presence in the city with the most hotel rooms of any other. And it could form the blueprint for future strategic deals which give members access and recognition in markets that they didn’t have before.

Here’s some additional Q&A I did with Hyatt giving details of the new partnership.
I’m pretty excited about it, since for me Vegas is an underexplored destination. Sure, I’ve tipped at checkin at Bellagio for an upgrade ($100 for a 5 bathroom suite). And I’ve visited on business and eaten off the strip. But this will likely get me to visit a bit more, and I’ll probably check out Vdara.
Hyatt is apparently pretty excited about it, too, since they offered me some things to give away to a lucky reader of the blog to celebrate their new partnership and benefits.
- 22,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points (enough for a night at any Hyatt redemption property in the world, any MGM M Life participating resort in Las Vegas, or multiple nights if redeeming for lower redemption tier properties).
- Two tickets to a show at a MGM Resorts location in Las Vegas – your choice of – “O” at Bellagio, Zarkana at ARIA, KÀ at MGM Grand, The Beatles LOVE at The Mirage, Jabbawockeez “PRiSM” at Luxor, Blue Man Group at Monte Carlo, Zumanity at New York-New York, or Tournament of Kings at Excalibur
- One of the following MGM Resorts experiences (Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay, Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage, or The Roller Coaster at New York-New York).
Sound interesting? Would you like to win? Here’s how.
The 12 MGM hotels that Hyatt Gold Passport members now have access to are:
- Category 2: Excalibur
- Category 3: Luxor
- Category 4: Monte Carlo, New York New York
- Category 5: MGM Grand, Signature at MGM Grand, Vdara, Mirage
- Category 6: Aria, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay
All you need to do is:
- In the comments, answer the question, answer the question “Where would you most want to redeem points in Vegas, and will anything ‘stay in Vegas’ on that trip?”
And then there’s always ‘fine print’:
- You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.
- All entries (comments) must be received no later than Friday, June 28 at 5pm Eastern time.
- Must be 21 to enter and a Hyatt Gold Passport member to win (if you aren’t a member already you should be — but you can join if you win).
- I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).
- I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to give out some cool prizes and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.
Any questions? Contact me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the experience.

Don’t miss out!
Bellagio and would love to see “O” so the memories would not stay in Vegas
New York New York
No – I plan on going with my younger brother and sister!
The Aria. And my inhibitions
I’d stay at the Aria and the only thing not staying in vegas would be me… gotta get back to work eventually.
It would be fun to stay at Aria or Bellagio on points! The only thing that doesn’t stay in Vegas is my winnings! 😀
I would love to try the bellagio. The only thing to stay would be my chips-I would take the cash!
Id stay at THEHotel and of course my hard earned cash would be left on the craps table
I would check out the Aria – looks beautiful
Bellagio. My money & my mind may stay in Vegas!!
Vdara! and not a chance…
I’d stay at the Bellagio and my money would stay in Vegas.
Signature at MGM Grand, and yes everything!
I’d stay at the Aria and the cash stays in Vegas
I would stay at the Bellagio to enjoy the fountain views from the comfort of my room and for easy access to their amazing conservatory. Two of my favorite things to see in Vegas. As for if ‘anything will stay in Vegas?’ …. now telling here would break the rules wouldn’t it? 😉
I would like to redeem at the Mirage. What stays in Vegas? My CHARM. 😛
I’d most want to redeem at Bellagio and the only thing that would ‘stay in Vegas’ would be the hangover!
I would try the Aria and Vdara if I have a chance to do it.
Would love to stay at Bellagio. The money stays unless we get lucky.
Bellagio. Never ever!
Would like to stay at Aria. Nothing will stay in Vegas since I’m a good boy. =P
Mandalay Bay. And my $ would stay.
Dreaming of that Bellagio night with Points 🙂 Everything except my big win stays in Vegas!!
Bellagio since that’s the only hotel worth the redemption
I would redeem points for Vdara. The Thunder from Down under will stay in Vegas when I visit.
MGM Grand. It has a soft spot for me as I’ve had some nice runs at the Blackjack pit there. Also, nothing like a lazy river to cure a hangover.
I’d go with my wife as she’s never been, we’ll leave the kid at the Grandparents, so hopefully all sorts of unmentionable stuff will stay in vegas.
I’ve always wanted to stay at Mandalay Bay for the great pool. Hopefully not too much money would stay in Vegas!
Aria.
and everything stays in vegas! except pictures…
I love staying at the Mirage due to its location on the strip, and my heart would stay in Vegas after seeing Cirque du Soleil’s Zarkana.
Bellagio! and hopefully will leave with more than I arrived 😉
I would love to check out the Bellagio and hopefully not too much money stays behind in Vegas.
I would stay at Aria and hopefully everything I do in Vegas will stay in Vegas.
Aria. And everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
I would want to redeem at the Bellagio. Every thing that happens in Vegas comes home with you!
I would stay at the Bellagio & everything will stay in Vegas from the trip!
Bellagio – and my money won’t stay in Vegas.
I’d love to stay at the Mandalay bay and everything stays in Vegas!
I have never been to Las Vegas so I would love to stay at any of the hotels but if I had to choose it would be the Bellagio. My money would be the only thing to stay in Vegas.
Bellagio! and the points plus some money (for drinking) would stay in Vegas.
Bellagio. Everything stays.
Bellagio and I live in Vegas so it all stays here regardless. Agree with Simon, tough to keep your money here also.
Bellagio for sure since it is beautiful. As far as what will stay in Vegas? A fair share of my money, but who knows, I might get lucky!
I’d use them at Aria because I’ve never stayed there before.
Everything I do would stay in vegas!
I would love to stay at Aria
Excalibur. My last paycheck may stay in Vegas.
I’d stay at the Bellagio for sure. The only thing staying in Vegas will be the tips I leave the dealers, after my big win at the craps table.
Bellagio. My money would definitely stay there.
I’d stay at the Bellagio because I love those crazy fountains. And as the saying goes, all that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
The Luxor. I love the over the top theme hotel experience.
I’d stay at the Bellagio for sure.
As for anything staying in Vegas… it’s always best to play that kind of thing by ear and let the dice roll!
Definitely Bellagio, george Clooney style. And definitely i stays in Vegas – could be perfect for my bachelor party
