Earlier in the month Hyatt Gold Passport announced a great new partnership with MGM’s M Life program. Gold Passport members can earn and redeem points at the 12 Las Vegas M Life properties. And starting in August there’s reciprocal status as well. Which is great, because I’m not an especially high roller so the M Life status will help me feel a bit more like Sinatra around that city or at least around MGM’s properties (“Don’t you know who I am?!” :).
The major hotel chains are hugely underrepresented on the Vegas strip (though Marriott has Cosmopolitan and IHG has the Venetian). This hotel program “codesharing” fills a real gap — it instantly gives Hyatt the biggest major chain loyalty program presence in the city with the most hotel rooms of any other. And it could form the blueprint for future strategic deals which give members access and recognition in markets that they didn’t have before.

Here’s some additional Q&A I did with Hyatt giving details of the new partnership.
I’m pretty excited about it, since for me Vegas is an underexplored destination. Sure, I’ve tipped at checkin at Bellagio for an upgrade ($100 for a 5 bathroom suite). And I’ve visited on business and eaten off the strip. But this will likely get me to visit a bit more, and I’ll probably check out Vdara.
Hyatt is apparently pretty excited about it, too, since they offered me some things to give away to a lucky reader of the blog to celebrate their new partnership and benefits.
- 22,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points (enough for a night at any Hyatt redemption property in the world, any MGM M Life participating resort in Las Vegas, or multiple nights if redeeming for lower redemption tier properties).
- Two tickets to a show at a MGM Resorts location in Las Vegas – your choice of – “O” at Bellagio, Zarkana at ARIA, KÀ at MGM Grand, The Beatles LOVE at The Mirage, Jabbawockeez “PRiSM” at Luxor, Blue Man Group at Monte Carlo, Zumanity at New York-New York, or Tournament of Kings at Excalibur
- One of the following MGM Resorts experiences (Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay, Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage, or The Roller Coaster at New York-New York).
Sound interesting? Would you like to win? Here’s how.
The 12 MGM hotels that Hyatt Gold Passport members now have access to are:
- Category 2: Excalibur
- Category 3: Luxor
- Category 4: Monte Carlo, New York New York
- Category 5: MGM Grand, Signature at MGM Grand, Vdara, Mirage
- Category 6: Aria, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay
All you need to do is:
- In the comments, answer the question, answer the question “Where would you most want to redeem points in Vegas, and will anything ‘stay in Vegas’ on that trip?”
And then there’s always ‘fine print’:
- You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.
- All entries (comments) must be received no later than Friday, June 28 at 5pm Eastern time.
- Must be 21 to enter and a Hyatt Gold Passport member to win (if you aren’t a member already you should be — but you can join if you win).
- I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).
- I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to give out some cool prizes and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.
Any questions? Contact me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the experience.

Don’t miss out!
The Bellagio. It would not, I’m afraid.
I’d love to stay at the Bellagio. And everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas 😉
Vdara is such a pretty property! Plenty of things in Vegas need to stay there!
I still love the Mirage and if I win the trip the only thing that will stay in Vegas (at this point in my life) is my money.
I will stay at the Aria. I will stay in Vegas afterwards as well since I live here!
I’d stay at the Bellagio and hopefully all my poor decisions will stay in Vegas.
I’d use them at Aria because I’ve never stayed there before
I would most want to reedem points on a room at Mandalay Bay and EVERYTHING will “Stay in Vegas.”
I love the Aria and Bellagio. I’m more into gambling, eating, and relaxing than doing anything I need to worry about.
Bellagio!
Belagio and cash well spent!
Aria. They always do.
Aria and everything stays in LVS
I would stay at the Aria or Bellagio. I am sure I would leave alot of money in Vegas.
Bellagio, to give the plotline of The Hangover a run for its money.
Bellagio, and I hope nothing other than some cash stays in Vegas!
Vdara is a good value at Cat5. I won’t have secrets so nothing will stay in Vegas
Aria and only my money will stay in Vegas.
Mandalay Bay, and my doppelganger stays.
Bellagio! And as for what stays…well, that’s my secret 😉
Bellagio, and nothing would stay (assuming the sewage is treated out of town)
Oh, the Bellagio for sure. It would be a special treat.
And, hopefully not much would “stay” in Vegas (meaning, I would hope to take more $ home than I would let “stay” there.
I would stay at the Aria and everything would stay in Vegas, including my money
I’d use them at Aria because it’s the best hotel in Vegas!
Aria would be fun! The 100+ degree days can stay in Vegas!
I would definitely use the points to stay at the Aria and enjoy their awesome pool again.
Aria, because I need a relaxing vacation.
Bellagio. Would probably end up leaving my retirement funds in Vegas.
Bellagio for sure!
I want to try Bellagio if I win!
Aria. Everything stays in Vegas… except my gambling money 😉
I’d love to use points for a stay at Vdara, it’s gorgeous and modern and relaxing.
the Hotel. I’ve stayed in Bellagio and Aria. Heard that the Hotel has been remodeled lately. Left a few hundred bucks to the slot machines in Vegas.
The wonderful Mandalay Bay…and staying behind is my alter ego anti-mild manner clark kent.
I’d like to try the Vdara or Aria, and probably my gambling money would stay in Vegas 😛
I would pick Vdara as well.
The Bellagio… and as long as i get a few good stories out of it i dont mind leaving everything else in vegas
I would redeem my points at Aria and everything that happens between 11pm and 6am stays in Vegas. Good chance my dignity gets left behind as well.
I would stay at the Bellagio simply to watch the fountains without having to leave my suite and the STDs can stay in Vegas.
Bellagio, and my money stays in Vegas because I’m terrible at all things related to gambling.
The Bellagio. My pigging out at buffets stay in Vegas.
The Excalibur: more free nights, and then the hotel soap and shampoo can stay in Vegas!
i’d stay at the Aria. The casino chips stay in vegas after i cash out!
I would stay at the Aria and leave my hangover at the pool.
I’d use the points at the MGM Signature. How much money I (hopefully) win at the tables and subsequently spend at Hakkasan will stay in Vegas.
The Bellagio. Sadly it’s the money at the tables that likely stays in Vegas!
I’ve always wanted to stay at the Vdara since it opened! My gambling money always finds a way to stay in Vegas.
Aria! I agree with Marla that my money would stay in Vegas 😛
Bellagio for me. Nothing stays in Vegas except any money I happen to put into the slots.
FWIW I have found it difficult to beat Priceline in Vegas. If you win a 5-star you will be thrilled (except for the resort fee), but I’ve been happy even with a Hotwire 3-star below $50.
Bellagio. A lot of money I hope (not).
