United has a fare as low as $386 roundtrip between Los Angeles and Tokyo.
You need to depart Monday through Thursday in each direction and the fare is available for outbound travel November 1 through December 8 and January 9 through June 30. Tickets are non-refundable with a $300 change fee.
You’ll find a great fare of $547 on most booking sites.
However airfare metasearch site Momondo will help you find even better pricing than that.
You’re not going to upgrade these tickets. If you’re a United elite, choose to credit your miles to United for access to economy plus extra legroom seating. If you’re not an elite, considering you can credit the miles to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and earn more than you would any other way.
While a non-elite MileagePlus member crediting United flights to the revenue-based MileagePlus program will only earn under 1500 miles, nearly all United fares earn 100% of flown miles when crediting to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer (.pdf). That means you earn almost 11,000 Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles for the trip flying United and crediting this K fare to KrisFlyer.
While Singapore miles do expire after 3 years (not 3 years of inactivity), you can top off a KrisFlyer miles account with transfers from American Express, Chase, Citi, and Starwood.
This fare is a wonderful opportunity to get ‘lost’ in this most amazing city.

is OW matching?
Gary, why don’t you tell us the full story? Momondo is a consolidator search engine. These tickets will earn ZERO miles. Or is the fat commission they’re paying you just too good to pass up?
@Stu Fat commissions? Hah. 20 cents, 50 cents, and I could care less about that. If I’m going to show that the pricing is better through these sites, I’m going to stick the link in, but truly before you attack my motives start with some facts. From what I’ve seen these are K fares and do earn miles and credit to SQ.
@Danny does not appear so
Do you have any sample dates that work in March 2017? Couldn’t find any dates under $400.
Red flag that the site has the US Airways logo still on it?
kids like stu adds no information/value for other readers.
after they started getting into the hobby & read about 20 articles, they think they got it, all of it.
it’s a waste of blogger’s time to respond to them, and waste of my time to chaff them out.
Can you check in with your MP number, get an E+ boarding pass, then change your FF# to another airline?
Booked this past Sat to fly AA LAX-HND in early Nov, Thur-Sun for $547. Wonder if these are United reacting to those fares or vice versa.
Gary why did you delete my comment? I’m simply helping out readers that aren’t familiar with Momodo and not be deceived by the low prices that they show. All the booking sites that they partner with are scam sites.
Nice ….. its easy to way to select flight date with fare
Hi, I’m pretty new to the fare hunting. Wondering if a similar sale is on the horizon for SFO to Tokyo. Or how best to swing a trip originating from San Fran. Thanks in advance for any guidance
@Luis I don’t delete comments are you sure there wasn’t some kind of hiccup on your end?
