More Credit Card Issuers Likely to Offer Free Access to FICO Credit Scores

Yesterday I wrote that the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard® and other Barclays cards now provide free access to real FICO credit scores through their online account.

The nice thing is that these are real scores, and free, whereas many free services are effectively simulations rather than the data that lenders would see.

It turns out that eventually many more card issuers may be providing free FICO scores as well.

FICO plans to let card issuers who use its scores make those scores available to consumers for free.

Barclaycard and First Bankcard (First National Bank of Omaha) are the first two banks offering this but FICO is working with other banks on potentially doing the same.

  1. I applied for a club Carlson card for my wife in mid-October. As part of issueing her a card US Bank mailed her Experian credit score in its own envelope.

  2. I have a US Airways card from Barclay Card. I’ve scoured the website but can’t find any mention of my FICO score there. I don’t really use the perks offered by that card, BUT if FICO score was another perk, I’d probably keep it.
MEANWHILE, I almost cancelled my Walmart card yesterday but discovered that it gives me access to my FICO score. So I decided to keep the Walmart card.

I really want to cancel one of them. Any clues as to whether or not the Barclays US Airway card will eventually tell me my FICO?
