Don’t Sleep On The Offer Of The Year: 100,000 Chase Points Opportunity Ending Soon

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

I don’t have the exact time that this offer will be pulled, but I’ve learned that it will end soon. And we haven’t seen an offer like this in nearly four years. Chase is offering a 100,000 point initial bonus offer for the Sapphire Preferred Card, earned after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

You can redeem the points at 1.25 cents apiece towards travel through Chase’s portal, or transfer them to airline and hotel points:

  • Star Alliance: United MileagePlus, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Air Canada Aeroplan
  • oneworld: British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus
  • SkyTeam: Air France KLM Flying Blue, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
  • Non-alliance: Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards, Aer Lingus AerClub, Emirates Skywards
  • Hotels: World of Hyatt, Marriott Bonvoy, IHG One Rewards

The card earns 5x on travel purchased through Chase Travel, 3x on dining, select streaming services and online groceries, 2x on all other travel purchases. It also comes with a $50 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit.

And noteworthy are the protections that come with this card. You can count on Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance, Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver, Lost Luggage Insurance and more. And you can get complimentary access to DoorDash DashPass which unlocks $0 delivery fees and lower service fees for a minimum of one year when you activate by December 31, 2027.

The Sapphire Preferred card was probably the first card I was really excited to use, not just get approved for and earn a bonus with. Sure I used to use the Starwood Amex for my unbonused spend back in the day, but when this bad boy first came in the mail I was excited to pull it out at a restaurant for the first time and earn double points.

I started racking up points more quickly, since I was earning two points per dollar on all travel and dining back then – the categories I spent the most on. And these were points that could transfer to different airlines and hotels.

When Chase offered 100,000 points as an initial bonus back in July 2021, I jumped on it.

  • 5/24 probably applies: with most Chase cards you need to have had fewer than 5 new cards in the past 24 months to be eligible.

  • 48 months between bonuses: You cannot have an open Sapphire card, and cannot have received a new cardmember bonus for any Sapphire card in the past 48 months.

The offer comes just a little bit too early for me. I’d been about 43 months since I earned a bonus with this card, and I can’t imagine the offer sticks around long enough for me to take advantage of it again. I wish I wasn’t shut out from this, because it’s the most compelling card offer I think I’ve seen in a long time.

Chase’s points are among the most valuable. This is a lot of points that are on offer. And the spending requirement to earn them is fairly modest. Meanwhile, the card’s annual fee is still just $95 and it earns triple points on dining which is great, too.

Plus, it can serve as your Chase ‘hub’ – meaning that if you have other no annual fee cards like Chase Freedom Unlimited® – which earns 3x on drugstore purchases and dining and 1.5x on all other purchases – you can transfer those points into a Sapphire Preferred account and they become more valuable, and transferable.

This matches the best offer we’ve ever seen. I’d consider jumping on this opportunity to apply.

  1. CSP/CSR are great. @L737, did you get yours in-the-mail yet? Get that bonus-bonus!

Gary, how ’bout 90K+ Chase United Quest offer by 5/7? Extra 5K with FA code. That’s a nice one, too. DoC just posted on it as well. If anyone’s not LOL/24, it might be time.

  2. Is the new way to help or really not to help on AA is that the flt attendants saying not a porter” when 5u have tbl putting your bag in the overhead. And also not let the wheel chair attendant helo.

  3. The BA visa offer ends 5/29. I had thought Chase put all these offers on the same timeline but I guess not?

  4. @1990 — Yes thank you and happily using it! Couple more thousand to put on it and then it’s bonus time — I like how there’s a tracker in the app that shows you your progression to the spend threshold.

Interestingly they changed the design of the card from the picture of yours Gary — pattern is more “line-y” and less “shape-y” now.

  5. Got the odd “we’re reviewing” your application. NOT the 7-10 message. Some reddit reports say this may be indication that Chase Fraud will call (going on day 2 now without a call) to verify it’s “me”. I’ll give it one more day and then call and try to get recon.
