News and notes from around the interweb:
- “[A] recent memo from DOT to employees outlin[es] a new dress code pilot that applies to those working out of the agency’s headquarters in Navy Yard. It’s called “Dress for Your Day.” (Workers like inspectors, who wear uniforms outside of the office, must have attire that aligns with safety regulations.)”
— Business casual: This is for office work outside of a formal meeting. Expect shirts, blouses, trousers, skirts and professional footwear. (At the town hall, Duffy said no to shorts or flip flops.)
— Smart casual: I.e., “less formal Fridays” — like when office hours change due to bad weather. In this case, you’re free to rock dark or colored denim, polos, sweaters and casual (but still sleek) footwear.
- Context for why this is hilarious.
Business Tip (Spirit Airlines Edition):
Whenever you are flying commercial, especially on Spirit Airlines in seat 29B, always wear your best business suit & tie combo (business formal).

Had a bad flight experience, but the Flight Attendant snuck me a bag of cookies as I was getting off the plane.
byu/Bigbadjohn99999 inamericanairlines - Why banks don’t want the CFPB to disappear big banks like regulation, they have build the apparatus to deal with it and can afford it. It is their moat against startups.
- “Resorts World raised its resort fee to $55 (plus tax) but you get unlimited local and toll-free phone calls with your room.”
- The Best Airport Restaurants in the World, According to Business Power Travelers (HT: Daniel P.) Salt Lick in the Austin airport? Yikes. Salt Lick isn’t even great barbecue in Driftwood. (That one is a pretty location, however.) And One Flew South is highly overrated. Yet Tortas Frontera isn’t on their list! My bet is that the author hasn’t been to most of these places.

Not sure what kind of business connection you’d find in row 29 or a Spirit Airlines flight.
No shorts or flip flops at work???!!?! What?!??!
Trump is a fascist, racist. Hitler!
(Hey left – am I doing this right? )
You would find a French connection on Spirit.
On the CFPB: It’s a tragedy that they vilified this agency that was actually doing a lot of good for consumers. You bet that even the big banks like *some* regulation–because without rules, it’s utter chaos. Scams abound. Volatility. Speculation. Recession. While some folks here have celebrated this, I sure don’t. We need guardrails for our financial system. And we should regularly audit and improve the system, not blow it. This race to abolish such agencies is going to harm nearly all of us.
@ George N Romey — You woud be surprised. Not everyone wastes their money on other airlines.
It’s pathetic that you have to spell out what people should wear to work. My company allowed Bermuda shorts but there were women who decided booty shorts were equivalent and that privilege was revoked.
@MAGA – No, you aren’t doing right. You need to work on your Russian.
It is rare that I would ever consider wearing a suit while flying. The seats are too cramped and I tend to fly longer flights. Unless a person wants creases in the back of their suit jacket, they should take it off while seated and find a way to hang it. The pants may also get creased. I suppose that a person meeting with an important person directly after the flight has no choice about wearing formal wear. I haven’t flown flights for business since the 80s.
@aaway — Zing!!
