Enter Here to Win a Seat on Star MegaDO 4!

BoardingArea is giving away two seats on the upcoming Star MegaDO 4. And the winners will even have their hotel accommodations paid for plus a little spending money as well.

It’s the ultimate frequent flyer adventure. Join a couple hundred of your newest frequent flyer enthusiast friends, meeting with airline executives, getting behind the scenes tours, bringing home amazing souvenirs and memories, and earning bonus elite qualifying miles in the MileagePlus program along the way.

Details of the program were released at the launch party. The event will begin the evening of Tuesday, November 13 in San Francisco. Wednesday flies San Francisco to Houston on the charter, a newly refurbished 767-400. Thursday is Houston to Chicago. And there’ll be plenty of United senior managers involved, other Star Alliance partners in San Francisco, and a whole bunch of major surprises along the way.

Here are official hotel details. Hyatt is a sponsor, and there’s a Hyatt Gold Passport promotion as part of the MegaDO. And there’s an optional Cowboy Day at the end of the MegaDO in Chicago.

For more information on the event, here is Milepoint’s forum for Star MegaDO 4.

January’s oneworld MegaDO was featured on the front page of the business section of USA Today and also in an Associated Press story that hit about 70 papers. Top media are ticketed for this event as well.

So here’s how you can enter..

How it Works: One person will be chosen at random to win an entry from this post. Each participating blog will have one winner. (Other BoardingArea blogs will also be giving away an entry this week.) The two BoardingArea winners will be drawn from the individual entrants chosen on each blog.

What You Need to Do: Answer the question, “Are you excited for United’s new 787? And if so, why?” You may only enter once here at View from the Wing. Enter by 11:59pm Mountain time on October 7.

The Prize: A reserved aisle or window seat next to Randy Petersen on the upcoming StarMegaDo 2012, hotel accommodations, and $250 for personal expenses. There will be a total of two total winners chosen at BoardingArea.

Additional details on the contest can be found here. You must be 18 to enter and will be responsible for your own positioning flights (to San Francisco for the start of the MegaDO and back home from Chicago).

So to enter, Are you excited for United’s new 787? And if so, why?

And to be clear, this question is just based on ‘what’s new at United’, the airline we’re working with on the charter.

Good luck, and giddy up!

  1. Not really – it doesn’t fly on a route that I would plan to take. It is cool to see one on a US carrier though!

  2. Yes, very excited to see a domestic airline with a *brand new* aircraft offering modern travel comfort and on domestic routes even!

  3. The 787 is as close to a state of the art airplane as you can get. Having toured Everett, and having been on the prototype, I can’t wait to fly on one!

  4. I’m excited about it but usually want to wait a year or so to try new technology for all the kinks to be worked out.

  5. Of course! I haven’t flown on the 787 yet (though am scheduled to do so early next year).

  6. Yes, I want to see if the higher pressurization and humidity makes a big difference on long flights.

  7. I’d be thrilled to check out this new plane and all the new stuff on it….like comfortable seats etc!

  8. No really.. I’m more interested in the quality of service of an airline than the plane i’m on. but would love a free megado seat!

  9. Yes of course I’m excited for United’s new 787… what’s new in the air and what’s new to me with one of the best airlines is always cause for excitement!

  10. Yes, because I got to visit the Boeing Factory and view how they are made. It really made we want to fly the new plane.

  11. I am excited because in the 50 plus years I’ve been flying, I’ve never had the opportunity to fly a totally new design…when it’s still very new!

  12. Yes, a little, because it’s a new aircraft. Not hugely excited though because it’ll be around for a long time and it doesn’t really have much new in terms of seats/IFE.

  13. Heralded as the evolution of commercial aircraft, of course. Looking forward to the higher comfort factor (pressurization and humidity levels), along with brighter cabin and advanced technological features. And of course anything shiny and new is always great…first kids on the block to have one!

  14. Yes, I’m excited for United to get some new planes!! The fact they are 787s is just a bonus

  15. I’ve been photographing the 787 for the last two years. Now it’s time to take a ride in one: DEN-NRT-DEN in May

  16. Yes, being from Seattle have seen it in the air a # of times, now it’s time to take a look inside!

  17. I’m excited about the 787 because of the more pressurized cabin and higher humidity will be much more comfortable

  18. Yes, because I can’t wait to try out this beautiful new plane and the beautiful new seats!

  19. Yes – I might actually get my fiance to agree to fly somewhere that’s longer than a 4.5 hour flight

  20. Higher cabin pressure and bigger windows encapsulated by the inspiring United colors.

  21. I’m excited about any new airplane!

In the case of the 787, Boeing has certainly presented it as a qualitative improvement in air travel, largely due to improved cabin air environment and the larger windows. I’m excited to try the aircraft this fall!

  22. I’m stoked for the 787 and its all About the space. Big windows and high ceilings? Sign me up!

  23. I’m interested to see what the impact of the 787’s ability to use more humid cabin air will have on passenger comfort on longer flights.

  24. Yes, would love to fly the 787 because I would love to experience the new bigger windows with electric shades!

  25. I am excited to take it from DEN-NRT! Looking forward to the new plane smell, the big windows and the pressurization changes!

  26. It’s all about comfort and efficiency. Bigger windows let in more light, and its ceiling is higher. The air is less dry than on other planes, and the cabin is pressurized to a lower altitude. That will make the air inside feel closer to the air on the ground.

As a frequent flyer I’m curious to experience United’s 787 Economy Plus seat pitch 35.0-36.0″. Also like to see how it differs from A380 experience.
