Supermodel Karlie Kloss tweeted her disdain for Philippine Airlines this week. And it got plenty of attention because… she’s a supermodel and a former Victoria’s Secret Angel.
Kloss spoke out in a Snapchat video as well.
I travel international on a weekly basis and I have never had a worse customer experience than I have tonight. Thanks Philippine Airlines
She doesn’t actually say what her problem with the airline was. Fortunately, Philippine Airlines tells us.
The model was scheduled to fly PR Flight 127 which departs New York JFK, stops in Vancouver, and continues to Manila.
She arrived at the check-in counter at 11:40pm on June 6 for the 12:15am June 7 departure. That’s 35 minutes out, and Philippine Airlines closes its check-in desk an hour before departure. (She was apparently late leaving the the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York.)
The resolution to her situation, though?
ABS-CBN also reports that the airline comped the model for the cost of her unused ticket as well as her rebooking fees, and would be “pleased to serve Ms. Kloss’ travel needs in the future.”
Perhaps she should have just tweeted the airline before check-in cut-off time.
PAL over Cebu Pacific any day.
I had a great experience with PAL last March. Flew Guam-Manila, then Manila -Osaka. Nice, clean planes and great crew. They did have some onerous language in their check-in policy though. My ticket stated that I had to check in at least 3 hours before departure. Or, they had the right to sell my seat to someone else. My flight was a little before 7am, so it was a very long day!
At least she won’t become a victim of the bullet planting scam.

I’d be happy to serve Karlie’s needs anytime…
Easy to make fun of her since she is a “model”, and so presumably a poster child for DYKWIA.
But they close their check in desk an hour before departure?
Seriously?
Not uncommon for international airlines with 60 minute check-in cutoff. She wouldn’t have made a 45 minute domestic check-in cutoff either.
Whiny Little Biatch. Sense of entitlement much?
And, Robert, why wouldn’t they close check-in an hour before scheduled departure? You missed the blurb about extraordinarily long TSA lines? Maybe on your planet TSA is fast.
A “supermodel” flying PAL? LOL
