News and notes from around the interweb:
- British Airways junior pilots are furious with the deal their union has negotiated with the airline but that’s literally how a union works – it benefits the most senior members at the expense of junior members, with the junior members signing on in hopes of one day being the senior members who benefit at the expense of others themselves.
It’s just that right now it looks like the junior members of the union don’t rise to the top of the pile to become the exploiters rather than the exploited…
- The flight attendant who wound up in jail after the worst ‘date’ ever has finally been released.
- Truly horrible, revelation about the Ukraine International Airlines plane that Iran shot down earlier this year,
Analysis from the black boxes of a downed Ukrainian passenger plane shows it was hit by two missiles 25 seconds apart and that passengers were still alive for some time after the impact of the first blast, Iran said on Sunday.
…“Nineteen seconds after the first missile hit the plane, the voices of pilots inside the cockpit indicated that the passengers were alive … 25 seconds later the second missile hit the plane,” he was reported as saying. ..The aircraft’s flight crew – two pilots and an instructor also travelling in the cockpit – tried to keep control of the plane until the last moment, Zanganeh said.

I know that you’re no great fan of unions, Gary (I am in larger corporations to help level a very uneven playing field) but the union really does exist for all members. Anyway that’s the idea. Sadly that theory doesn’t always work out in real life but each member does get one vote. Crappy leadership is another story, as is the ridiculous us-vs.-them mentality that both results from and perpetuates that same crappy leadership.
Yea, “date”
