News and notes from around the interweb:
- British Airways buy on board afternoon tea service doesn’t come with… tea
Tea in British Airways First Class - Uber launches “Quiet Driver mode” for UberBlack you can set a preference for the driver not to be chatty. On the one hand it seems kind of rude, on the other it may be part of being a professional driver which is what UberBLACK is supposed to provide. Women in particular may prefer not to be ‘chatted up’ by male drivers.
It’s part of a move to differentiate and increase buy ups to UberBLACK, and will include premium telephone customer service (same as offered to top tier Uber Diamond members). Other features of both Black and Black SUV will include signaling that a rider has luggage “so the driver knows to pull over somewhere they can help load them into the trunk” and a temperature request for “warm or cold so drivers know whether to crank the air conditioning.”
- JetBlue is switching from Coke to Pepsi that’s never a move you make for the benefit of customers, Pepsi is clearly offering an attractive enough financial package that it doesn’t matter to the airline what passengers will think.
- Wyndham Rewards offers status matches to pretty much everyone, and you can status match from Wyndham Rewards to Caesars Rewards. So plenty of people will be interested in the free $100 celebration dinner you get when you do so.
- TSA is warning Memphis passengers about barbecue sauce. I’d echo the warning: barbecued meat should be good enough that sauce is unnecessary. Why would you go out of your way to eat meat that isn’t?
- Air Italy is dropping its plans to fly Boeing 787s They’ll go all-Airbus A330-200 for long haul. The decision is driven by engine delays delivering planes to Qatar Airways, which delays when used 787s become available to lease. This airline changes strategies more often than I change underwear, and I always travel with extra underwear.
I love Kreuz BBQ in Lockhart! And I agree with the rules of the house.
@gary – exactly how is this true?
“that’s never a move you make for the benefit of customers”
^…..um……because more people like coke………
Indeed, because Coke is the better product.
And when it comes to Diet, the Pepsi stuff is absolutely non-potable. Whereas Diet Coke and Coke Zero are decent (oh, and yes, I’m an addict).
