Gary. With tumors/ discussions between UAL and Delta buying Avianca how are Lifemiles likely treated after the merger?
Any interesting arb opportunities buying Lifemiles?
@Hungry Joe – at this point it’s just about taking a stake in the airline, not a merger or total takeover. That would affect the airline more than the frequent flyer program. The frequent flyer program is a separate independent entity with a substantial stake owned by an outside hedge fund. That could be acquired in the future too although it is not currently under discussion. If Avianca left Star as a result of future Delta ownership, then LifeMiles would no longer access Star inventory. Any such speculation is WAY off in the future.
Thank you for the quick reply with the 135% bonus looming :).
