Kuala Lumpur is one of my favorite cities in the world. It’s probably my favorite food city, from satay to prawn mee to amazing roti.
It’s an interesting city with good food — probably the most decadent breakfast buffets in the world — and some of the best deals on luxury accommodations.
My favorite place to stay there is the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. I first stayed there after it opened in 2012.
I’ve been back, and it’s only gotten better. It’s one of the top hotels in the city, has perhaps my favorite club lounge breakfast, and has fantastic views of the Petronas Towers.
It’s a TripAdvisor 2017 Travelers Choice award winner and the #3 ranked hotel in Kuala Lumpur. I’ve seen very few properties with reviews this good.
And I’m going to give away a 3 night weekend stay there, in an upgraded view room with club lounge access, thanks to Luxury Travel Diary.
This is a very special giveaway, thanks to my good friends at Luxury Travel Diary. Regular readers know them as a high-end travel blog with great reviews. They’re based in the UK and run travel auctions with real bargains.
As I’ve said before, folks who already know about these auctions don’t like this added attention, because there don’t seem to be enough bidders for many of their best offerings relative to the value available. Some of their items go way too cheap.
- Here are their auctions.
- And here are the auctions ending soon which are probably the best to check out right now – to get an idea of just how good a deal you’re likely to get.
- Check out 3 Nights At Belmond Grand Hotel Europe, St Petersburg, Russia, 1 Night At The Meritage Resort And Spa In Napa Valley, 2 Nights At The Colony Club Resort In Barbados — Nice places for a fraction of what you should be paying.
- Other hand-picked auctions to check out– 2 Nights Park At The 5 Star Hyatt Buenos Aires and two separate auctions of 3 nights in Jamaica for 8 people.
This prize is being given away by the hotel and Luxury Travel Diary, I’m just helping to highlight it and randomly select the winner.
Luxury Travel Diary wanted to highlight some of their deals, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 3 night hotel stay at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
- 3 night weekend stay (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night) in a Club Twin Towers View Room that is inclusive of club benefits and access to our dedicated Grand Club Lounge which offers daily continental breakfast, all-day light refreshments as well as evening canapes and cocktails.
I’d add that the club lounge staff is fantastic here. And offerings are extensive both hot and cold (including from a made to order menu at breakfast).
This prize is being given away by the hotel and Luxury Travel Diary, I’m just helping to highlight it and randomly select the winner. The stay can be taken up through September 15, 2018 (so roughly a year’s validity on the prize).
To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.
Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, October 6at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.
The fine print: Advance booking is required and it’s subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply.
For avoidance of doubt, I have no affiliation with Luxury Travel Diary or Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. I am not getting anything in exchange for running this giveaway other than an opportunity to share the place with readers.
I will obtain the winner’s contact information to receive the 3 night weekend stay voucher. The hotel is solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a stay. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!
This is a great opportunity to venture into Malaysia (some fabulous beach resorts) or visit elsewhere in Southeast Asia — from Thailand to Vietnam or Indonesia.
I’m thinking a couple of nights at the Park Hyatt in Goa would not be too shabby. I’d go for that. Oh, and KL would be great, too.
My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary is 3 Nights At Belmond Grand Hotel Europe, St Petersburg, Russia.
My favorite auction would be 1 NIGHT IN A CITADINES RASUNA JAKARTA APART’HOTEL IN INDONESIA because I love Jakarta.
I would love to stay at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur because I’ve always wanted to go to Kuala Lumpur and would love to do it in style. 🙂
I’d love to stay at the KL Hyatt just so I can go out and eat all my faves: nasi lemak, teh tarik, white coffee, char kway teoh, and stingray!
Why stay at the Grand Hyatt? Well, I’m sure there’s a barista who can make a great teh tarik with flair — I’d want to watch it be made and enjoy it! (I’m *so* addicted to teh tarik…)
I stayed at the GH KL on my honeymoon and would love to go back for an anniversary.
Planning to head to Mexico somewhere soon so an offer like the one for 7 Nights At Acanto Boutique Hotel In Playa Del Carmen, Mexico looks great… Nice site to add to places to check out offers….
And yes the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur looks fantastic, love to try it out next time i am in KL to do a bit more exploring of what that city has to offer visitors.
I would choose to stay at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kuala Lumpur as an HQ for tasting all the fantastic dishes in the city.
The ethic melting pot of Indian, Chinese and ethic Malay food can create the most amazing combinations.
Just even thinking about the street food at Jalan Alor is making me hungry right now!
I have been fortunate to enjoy Grand Hyatt hospitality throughout Asia and the Sub-Continent, but have not yet had the opportunity to enjoy the hospitality and facilities of the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur or the sights, sounds, and dining of Kuala Lumpur. I really would like an opportunity to see how the food in KL stands up against the food in other Asian cities.
I’d stay at the hotel as a starting point for KL’s amazing food culture.
Of the current auctions, I’d love to stay at the Victoria Falls hotel in Zim again. Stayed there before, spectacular hotel.
India is one of my favorite travel destinations in the world. I’ve been all over the country, from north to south and east to west, but for some unknown reason, I’ve never made it to Goa. It is a location I’ve wanted to go to ever since a fraternity brother of mine visited while on an around the world trip. Two nights at the Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa sounds like the perfect impetus to finally visit this very different, historical, and beautiful part of India.
My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary is “2 NIGHTS AT RENAISSANCE JOHOR BAHRU HOTEL, JOHOR, MALAYSIA”

My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary is 3 Nights In A Castle Near Paris And Loire Valley In France
This auction item really caught my eye: Pangea Pod Hotel in Whistler, Canada. Chic, Shared and Central. Proximity and privacy without the price tag. Love love love it!
Favourite auction item : 3 Nights At The Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort, Costa Rica!
Why to stay at GH KL? Great club lounge, great location in downtown KL!
I would love to go on the Vietnam hotel resort here: https://www.luxurytraveldiary.com/auction/?ult_auc_id=36114
This is because I’ve never been to Vietnam and would love to go there and enjoy the beaches and resort. The resort seems very large at 5 hectares so I’m sure there would be a lot to do.
I would stay there (not only) because of their rotis …..
Hey Gary!
My auction item of choice would be the “3 NIGHTS FOR 4 PPL IN A LUXURY VILLA ON NAXOS ISLAND, GREECE.” We have some friends over there we could meet up with and I’m sure we’d get ourselves into a lot of fun adventures. Thanks for showing me the site!
I would bid for “2 Nights At Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia” …..
Hello Again!
As for why I’d pick Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur…there are about 100 reasons! Most importantly, I’ve never been to Kuala Lumpur but it has always been on my dream list. The opportunity to stay at one of its finest hotels, complete with stunning views, top rated food, and club lounge access, would certainly get me on the next flight out there! Thanks for the opportunity!
Because I have always wanted to go to Kuala Lumpur. Hitting all the places at the top of my list but this one is definitely on the list.
I would choose to stay at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur because it would add a special touch on my first trip to Asia to visit my son.
Thanks for the contest! Will be great to have a holiday in Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur with my wifey of 20 years. Cheers
I have only had good experiences staying in Hyatt hotels across the world, and I would love to take my wife to such a beautiful place as her first experience of Asia.
I would bid for “7 Nights At Acanto Boutique Hotel In Playa Del Carmen, Mexico”. What a wonderful place…
I will go for 2 NIGHTS IN A LUXURY TENT AT DESERT LUXURY CAMP IN MOROCCO. Sound exotic and luxurious at the same time!
1 NIGHT AT THE WESTBOURNE HYDE PARK BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN LONDON sounds good too!
Having relatives in Portugal I think I would choose the 7 NIGHTS AT CASA MANUELA, CHAMINÉ/ALGOZ, ALGARVE, PORTUGAL. This would allow me to bring the US and Portuguese families together for a nice, shared vacation.
I would love to stay at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur as I currently live in Chiang Mai, Thailand for 9 months of the year and have been travelling throughout southeast Asia. I have yet to make it to Kuala Lumpur but would love to and be able to stay at this beautiful hotel. Thanks. Kris

My favorite auction item is “2 Nights At The 5 Star Park Hyatt Buenos Aires”
My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary is the Meritage resort in napa valley for one night!
Why I would choose to stay at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is because it would be the first hotel I would actually want to hang out and explore the hotel offerings. The chefs, the views, the larger room size and I could keep going on…
Staying at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur would certainly be a highlight of my trip to SE Asia.
Grand Hyatt KL, great location
best auction: 1 Night At The Westbourne Hyde Park Boutique Hotel In London, great price for London
Traveling to KUL in January 2018, I would love to stay at the Grand Hyatt!!! I would even make a separate trip just to stay there at some other date and invite a friend!!
Love the auctions t Luxury Travel Diary!!
I used to go to KL on business. I love the food and the people. Would love to go back.
Given the location and views from the hotel, that what’s makes me want to stay there most on a first visit to the city. However, given the excellent reviews – it seems like an amazing choice!
My pick for favorite/best auction currently is the
1 Night At The Meritage Resort And Spa In Napa Valley, California, USA
I’ve been wanting to get back to Napa, and even though this is 1 night, at an incredible price, it gives me a reason to bid and make some plans.
