Giving Away National Car Rental Points and Executive Elite Status!

National Car Rental: Sign Up for the One Two Free Promotion

With some rental companies I choose to earn miles instead of rental points. With National I want free rental credits. I’ve been renting from National mostly in recent times, and I’m a big fan of their One Two Free promotion that gives you free rentals in addition to their standard rental credits.

I got a note from the PR folks asking if I’d help them promote the fact that they’re running this offer, and I told them I’d happily give away points in the promotion. As is customary, they offered points to me but as is my custom I asked if I could give away the points and they agreed. I also asked if I could give away elite status, and they agreed to that too!

And since you can get National’s Executive Status as a Milepoint Premium member, I asked if we could get an Executive Elite membership to give away. They agreed to that, too!

Executive status gets you access to better cars, you pick from the Executive Aisle instead of just the Emerald Aisle. And you earn free rentals faster.

Executive elite status normally requires 25 paid rentals or 85 paid rental days. It gets you guaranteed availability (24 hours advance reservation required), earns free rentals faster than Executive members, and an unpublished benefit in my experience is that free rental days can be redeemed for any car size or class.

And all you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post by Sunday at 1pm Eastern answering: Are you registering for National’s One Two Free promotion?

The newly redesigned One Two Free program allows Emerald Club members the ability to accrue points, to eventually earn a free rental – essentially, when you rent twice, you get the third one free.

I’m a big fan of National Car Rental, for two reasons.

  • They pioneered “pick your own vehicle” (the Emerald Aisle). When you’re a member of their Emerald Club, you walk up to the Emerald Aisle and just take the car you want. You show your ID on the way out. If I don’t want a Taurus, I don’t have to have one.
  • They run what I believe is the most lucrative promotion of any rental company, “One Two Free,” for every two rentals of a mid-size vehicle that’s two days or longer, you get a free rental day.

This year their One Two Free promotion lets you also earn points towards a free rental through several non-rental activities.

300 points counts as a qualifying rental towards a free rental day.

Here are the prizes:

  • One grand prize winner: 300 points + Executive Elite status
  • 3 runner-up winners: 300 points each. 300 points can be used to jump-start your participation in the One Two Free campaign.

I will select the winners with the assistance of Random.org, all decisions are final, and by entering you agree that there are no appeals, that you will not complain because I’m trying to do something nice to my readers and don’t need more complaints in my life! 🙂

And don’t forget to register for One Two Free!

  1. National is the only travel provider that I would feel comfortable being their spokesman for. The service is great on the Emerald Aisle and, as Gary notes, the One-Two-Free promo lets you double-dip: you get to earn free days in their regular awards program while, at the same time, get 1 free day for every two two-day-or-more rentals. And what’s nice about the free day certs is that you can even use them on expensive one-way rentals.

National’s rate are usually quite competitive, especially if you’re willing to devote a few minutes to comparing the promo codes and coupons (Flyertalk has a good thread summarizing these).

Bottomline, there are a lot of airlines and hotels that offer loyalty programs much like their competitors. But, in the car rental world, National is head-and-shoulders above the competition in terms of service and loyalty rewards. It’s a no-brainer for any frequent traveler to be loyal to their program. One-two-free is just icing on the cake.

  2. Are you registering for National’s One Two Free promotion? Already have, I love National cause I love to pick my car. I do local rentals from Union Station here in DC since it’s 6 blocks from our house. They are tremendous!

  3. being able to pick your own vehicle, without having to stand in line waiting for a customer service agent, is a very lucrative benefit.

With Executive Elite status, I would shift my rentals over to National.

I appreciate your giving away points, and other prizes too!

  4. Are you registering for National’s One Two Free promotion?

YES! One of my favorite promotions of the year. I love being able to pick my own car with National.

  5. One, Two, Free…you bet I’m registering. It’s an incredible promotion and I look forward to my next opportunity to play “pick a car, pick any car” from the Aisle!

  6. Are you registering for National’s One Two Free promotion?

YES! One of my favorite promotions of the year.

  7. This is one of my favorite promotions of the year–I always look forward to it. I usually rack up at least two or three free days without any effort.

Unfortunately this year I got deployed….so it was one and done for me. Oh well, there’s always 2014….National is by-far the best car rental program!
