New and notes from around the interweb:
- Air India bans holy water from flights
- Marriott is stonewalling the City of Denver’s auditor which is trying to determine how much revenue the airport-owned Westin earns
- Bonvoy! Marriott Courtyard Clemson wants to resell rooms booked at regular price by customers now that they realize they get more money for those rooms. I don’t think they understand what reservations are for. By the way when the Durham Hilton pulled the same scam Hilton corporate backed them up.
- A hotel has been fined 15,000 Euros for a GDPR violation: “A list containing the names of 46 guests who were entitled to breakfast at the hotel was photographed by an unauthorized party.” Hotels should do a better job securing personal information, so it’s ironic that governments often require they store (and give up on request) guest information. However is it really what we want, for European data regulators to be reaching down into hotel restaurants?
- Taking the train from Hong Kong to Beijing. (HT: Marginal Revolution)
To spend a nine hour high-speed train journey looking mostly at construction is to see a lot of construction. This is what spending almost half of national income on investment looks like. And that is not an experience you can have anywhere else.
- Italian pilot arrested with $1.2 million cash. He was discovered when the aircraft went mechanical.
Those wacky Marriott folks, they really take their cues from the top. Arne Bonvoys the customers ;eft and right and the properties follow like United and American, I mean sheep. Now they’re trying to Bonvoy entire cities? Color me impressed.
Is the Courtyard trying to resell the rooms? The article doesn’t say that.
The Courtyard says they accidentally took 100 too many reservations. Has anyone seen if they are taking booking for the same night?
If they accidentally took 100 to many reservations, they should fix it now … although they should think about incentives.
If they are trying to resell at a higher rate, they should be stopped.
Unclear which one it is.
