Hyatt Members Can Now Use Points At The Standard—Perks Rolling Out From Ibiza And Brussels To Bangkok And Beyond

Last summer Hyatt acquired Standard International, including Standard Hotels, StandardX and Bunkhouse Group.

They’ve already gotten integration of Standard properties lined up. These hotels will offer full points-earning, redemption, and elite status recognition.

Hotel booking pages for The Standard properties will begin redirecting to Hyatt this afternoon, and program terms and conditions will update shortly.

Bunkhouse Hotels Still ‘Coming Soon’

The Bunkhouse properties don’t yet have an integration date. We also don’t know details on level of participation, either.

  • Austin: Austin Motel, Carpenter Hotel, Hotel Magdalena, Hotel Saint Cecilla, Hotel San Jose
  • San Antonio: Hotel Havana
  • Houston: Hotel Saint Augustine
  • San Francisco: Phoenix Hotel
  • Louisville: Hotel Genevieve
  • Todos Santos, Mexico: Hotel San Cristóbal Baja
  • Mexico City, Mexico: Hotel San Fernando

The Austin Motel is another one of the most iconic spots in town. On South Congress about a mile from downtown, its motto is “So Close Yet So Far Out.”

It’s legitimately a motel and room rates run $150 – $250 or more.

It’s a 41-room 1930s-era motor lodge with neon sign that attracts locals to its pool with day passes. And, since Austin really isn’t centered around a downtown, it’s actually quite a good location for tourists. The property maintains the ‘Keep Austin Weird’ vibe of the early-2010s (from long before the Californians arrived during the pandemic).

But What I Really Want To Know Is…

Why can’t I earn 4x for ‘Hyatt spend’ with my Chase card at Jo’s Coffee in Austin?

Bunkhouse includes the local Austin chain Jo’s Coffee (there’s also an airport licensed location). The South Congress Jo’s is one of the most iconic spots in Austin where every tourist stops for a photo.

I lived across the street from a Jo’s when I first moved here. The Migas were good, the coffee was fine, and it would be nice to earn bonus points… maybe skip-the-line for Globalists? Come on people, let’s get creative here. Hyatt has a coffee brand, maybe we could improve the coffee in many of their hotels? Maybe through their American Airlines partnership they could get the Dallas-based carrier to offer something other than Fresh Brew onboard?

  1. “Why can’t I earn 4x for ‘Hyatt spend’ with my Chase card at Jo’s Coffee in Austin?”

Because it’s coded as dining, not hotel…

  2. Nice. The Standard High Line in NYC seemed to get a lot of hype over the years. Not too expensive either. Great views and location near the Whitney Museum and the new Little Island park along the Hudson. Personally, I’ve enjoyed the The Standard Biergarten there. Good food and drink. Próst!

  3. Have the Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars booked for December using a suite upgrade. Once The Standard London loads into Hyatt booking, I’ll check out the pricing for a switch. Will SUAs work at The Standard? The Standard Brussels hasn’t loaded yet for me to check if SUA is an available option.

  4. Just checked the Hyatt website for The Standard Ibiza and tried to book. It sent me to The Standard website. So, I don’t think SUA will be available at The Standard.

  5. Curious what the Globalists benefits will be. The Hotel Phoenix in S.F. Is literally in one of, if not the worst, neighborhoods in the city and if I was a tourist or visitor, I would never want to go and stay there. For a cheap rate to get a brand badge, I might suck it up being a local.
