News and notes from around the interweb:
- Allegiant now has a co-brand credit card, and flight attendants will sell it aggressively onboard
- Very easy entry for my Maldives hotel giveaway
- Be sure to register for Hyatt’s new promotion of up to 75,000 points now that the registration link is now live. And you should register for Hilton’s double points promotion as well.
It’s always a good idea to register for promotions when they come out, when you see them, rather than having to remember what’s out there when you are reserving a stay. It takes a few seconds, you won’t forget. And even if you think you won’t wind up with stays sometimes they happen despite plans. Better not to miss out on the extra points!
- TSA PreCheck eligibility now seems to be confirmed at the checkpoint by one beep, rather than three, at least based on a couple of flights I’ve had this week and conversations with the TSA at the checkpoint in two different airports.
- In June we learned that American Express’ Plenti program was devaluing earning for AT&T spend but they refused to tell us how. Now we know. Instead of earning 1 point per dollar on AT&T spend (a 1% rebate) they’ve introduced fixed earning:
50 points per month for each active wireless line (up to 6 lines for a maximum of 300 points per month)
100 points per month for having DIRECTV® or U-verse® TV
100 points per month for having AT&T U-verse® High Speed Internet - Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for the Americas will become the new CEO of the oneworld alliance
- A new approach to deterrence: Air India will require drunk pilots to pay for their own retraining after their second offense. I guess the first one is just a given? (HT: Loyalty Lobby)
Thought they same thing when I only got one TSA Precheck “beep”. I thought I’d have to go through the regular line, but I was sent straight through like always.
So, um, what exactly is the role of CEO of oneworld? He can’t please everyone at once and as far as I can tell the alliance is mostly a branding function at this point.
What happened to Hilton’s triple points for stays booked with the app? And I never got an e-mail about any special promotion.
“Details of a Plent devaluation” in the headlines would have been more helpful/accurate. When you say “American Express devaluation” obviously people think MR…. c’mon. Usually I think people who criticise are ridiculous but I think this is pretty fair.
