Marriott’s new winter promotion appears to have leaked early.
Every year for the past several years, Marriott has run a double elite nights offer along with bonus points. Here’s last year’s which was 1,000 bonus points per night and double elite qualifying nights on paid stays February 13 – April 29. They ran something similar in 2022 and 2023.
And it looks like it’s coming back for 2025 based on a Marriott announcement in Chinese. This corroborates a rumor from last week.
I value Marriott points at 6/10ths to 65/100ths of a cent apiece. So if they do 1,000 bonus points along with double nights this would be an extra rebate of $6 to $6.50 per night. I sort of shrug my shoulders at 1,000 Marriott points, except to mirror my late grandfather who would say that it’s better than a lokh in kop (hole in the head).

Award nights don’t count, which isn’t great, but at least with this promo Marriott doesn’t game you by starting earning with your second stay during the promotion period.
Double elite nights is great, though. And it’s technically an extra 1 elite night per night which is even slightly better, now that there are some hotels that earn only half an elite night per night stayed.

Ultimately you should register once this is available, even if you don’t expect any Marriott stays during the period, because you won’t remember to go back later and register. Plus even if you’re not currently going for Marriott status, elite nights count towards lifetime status and accruing more of those nights is better.
Whether it’s Marriott or Hilton, I gotta say, just ‘love’ to have to manually register for these, you know, as opposed to it automatically applying to our accounts every quarter or however often they occur.
Anyway, how’s that ‘no tax on tips’ going? Oh, that was just a ploy to rope the ‘working poor’ along for the ride with the oligarchs actually in-charge. And it’ll just be used so that millionaires can accept ‘gratuities’ without paying their ‘fair share.’ Cool. Cool, cool. But uh, yeah, blame the ‘soy boys,’ right?
At least it isn’t a Bonvoy promotion where you have set a reminder to not register too early.
Those promotions that start an X day qualification period starting with the moment you register? Utter nonsense.
@Ralph
These tactics make me wanna, well, ‘ralph,’ if you know what I mean.
It’s better than a hole in the head!
Just need Hyatt to copy this one!

“And it’ll just be used so that millionaires can accept ‘gratuities’ without paying their ‘fair share.’ ”
Great idea, I’ll 1099 myself tips instead of dividends! Thanks.
Does it also double count towards the Lifetime Nights Stayed?
Jean-Michel yes you get 2 nights credit towards lifetime.
Can we please not have to hear political rants in a promotion discussion? Why is that too much to ask?
Will we get an email or something that tells us to register?
For those of you commenting on having to manually sign up for these types of promotions, I’m curious if Marriot Ambassadors would be able to automatically do this. I stopped going for ambassador once I started splitting between Hyatt and Marriott. But my Hyatt Globalist Concierge sent me an unsolicited email asking if I’d mind if she just automatically signed me up for these types of promos whenever they become available. I told her absolutely. I don’t see why Marriott Ambassadors couldn’t do the same.
