United Polaris ice cream dishes were cracking sending shards of glass into the ice cream. Last month United removed ice cream sundaes and started serving ice cream in its container instead.
This was just one small hurdle of many in United’s attempt to finally offer a quality premium product. The Chicago Polaris lounge is very nice but can get crowded at peak times. The seats and service are good, especially for such a dense cabin.
And the Polaris roll out has been plagued with problems. They ran low on wine and most importantly manufacture of the new seats became so delayed that brand new aircraft had to be mothballed putting rollout of new seats behind an already planned snail’s pace.
Finally though some good news for the Polaris product comes via the inimitable Brian Sumers.
Hopefully the interim solution uses sufficiently sturdy paper to stand up to the ice cream and toppings, especially as the ice cream melts. And hopefully United can come up with and provision real dishware that doesn’t crack into the ice cream soon as well.
How classy. Business Travelers trying to steal pillows. That’s called theft.
@frank
It could also be called a souvenir and cheap advertising… at least the mini pillow…[not the expensive gel pillow].
