News and notes from around the interweb:
- Maryland’s governor says his state will move to a “Southwest Airlines” approach to vaccination. He seems to mean rolling boarding groups, but if I were a Maryland resident it would be the first time I was interested in Business Select or at least buying up to A1-15 boarding at the clinic. Or maybe I can redeem Southwest’s free drink coupons?
- Australia says flight attendants have a higher positivity rate than passengers arriving in Australia, with 8 out of 1000 flight attendants testing positive. That’s just not enough data on its own to conclude anything, despite some saying that argues against the relative safety of air travel.
- Singapore Airlines introduces Milestone Rewards for elites
- First person of 2021 caught with a loaded gun at the airport
- The highest court in Massachusetts rejected the requirement in Uber’s adhesion contract that riders are forced into arbitration to settle disputes the customer in the case was a blind man. Customers signing up ‘agree to Uber’s terms’ but they neither had to review them nor check agreement.
- Southwest Airlines attempts to reunite a lost teddy bear with its owner.
Arbitration should never be mandatory unless mutually agreeable by both parties
I thought it was going to be a guy from Texas with the gun. But it was the VA lady who did it. I remember seeing a show where a guy from Texas was driving to Alaska and argued with the Canada Boarder Patrol (CBP) that he had a permit to carry thus he could take his gun with it. CBP had to remind him that he was not in Texas or USA and had to no permit in Canada. He kept saying it was his right. CBP told him he was an armed illegal immigrant and that he had no rights. Travel from the lower 48 to Alaska though Canada does NOT mean you can take your USA rights with you.
