News and notes from around the interweb:
- Miami airport will increase cleaning budget by 50%, topping $50 million as it shifts away from vendor who admits the place is too dirty – but blames the airport. (HT: Jonathan)
“We made multiple requests to increase staff and were denied,” Noe said. He said MIA’s red tape also gets in the way of improving things — like when C&W Services offered to replace broken paper towel dispensers in airport bathrooms at no cost but airport staff said county contracting rules would require a bidding process first.

At Miami it would be a miracle to get the moving walkways to work would be a miracle.
MIA is a sh$thole
THIS would be a good place to deploy DOGE.
On MIA, thankfully, there are still some sweet spots, like the AA Flagship lounge in concourse D, the Admirals Clubs when they have the fresh guac, the Centurion (which simply doesn’t have enough space), and the more modern ‘South’ terminal (concourses H & J) are not bad. But, the older concourses are just awful, like F, which is one of the worst in the country, in my opinion. And the fact that the terminals are not connected airside is an issue. They really should completely renovate the ‘Central’ terminal (E, F, G). Sure, clean up the leaks, too (for $50 million, what?!)
VFTW for all bodily fluids and toilet water news.
The MIA airport authority, MDAD, is a third world, banana republic operation. Fraud, Waste and Abuse is how that corrupt organization runs. Elon would have a field day there.
I expect a settlement will be made on the lavatory door incident. I wonder what the medical costs were. Was the incident documented at the time.
@Rover,
Boy, you got that right. Gary has an unhealthy fascination with it. And a foot fetish.
