News and notes from around the interweb:
- Atlanta’s airport is government-owned but favors Delta at least as much as Dubai’s airport favors Emirates. They’re punishing JetBlue for adding new service that competes with Delta by intentionally allocating subpar gate space. (HT: Cranky Flier)
In the letter to the FAA, obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the airline said it had expected to be able to operate out of Concourse E.
But on Feb. 14, six weeks before the flights are scheduled to start, the airport sent a proposal for JetBlue to split its five daily flights between gates on Concourse D and Concourse E.
They say they had been promised concourse E, developed construction plans for their support space based on concourse E. But giving them subpar space split across two concourses is a way to protect Delta.
- Earlier this week a British Airways flight was delayed due to insufficient toilet paper. The one and a half hour delay to get more (you don’t want passengers using their passports..) caused the crew to exceed maximum duty hours, then three hours for replacement crew.
It’s expected that BA will owe passengers about $365,000 in compensation. Remind me again how much British Airways will be saving by cutting ground handling expense?

- Shopping portal bonus up to 1000 American AAdvantage miles through March 17
- Minimum 500 bonus Aeroplan miles per Air Canada booking through March 22 with promo code STPATRICK2017.
- The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago is under fire where a convicted terrorist will be a featured speaker at an anti-Israel conference. There are calls for the hotel to cancel the event. Hyatt hasn’t commented despite requests. Could the company’s silence complicate heir JB Pritzker’s contemplated run for governor as he courts Jewish voters?
- Boeing 737 diverted because of an ‘extremely pungent smell’ from the lavatory.
When British Airways runs out of toilet paper on your flight, I recommend using your paper boarding pass or pages from the British Airways in-flight magazine. Do not use the electronic boarding pass on your cell phone.
That Stinks
This post was extremely helpful for me! thanks
Carry extra rolls in your carry on and sell it for a dollar a sheet. My Scott toilet paper that has a thousand sheets per roll could finance the vacation. LOL
Spot-on, Ken A! ROFLMAO at your last sentence!
