JetBlue comes out looking really good in this BuzzFeed spinoff video that is currently trending number one on YouTube. They have JetBlue explaining themselves as trying to be both the cheapest and a little more human. I think a better way of putting it, considering that they’ve taken away some of the legroom and gave in and added checked bag fees, is that they’re trying to be a little less bad. And they are.
And a $139 cross country one way flight is an incredible value.
In this video two guys compare:
- A JetBlue cross country flight
- A short hop on SurfAir from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara
- Singapore Suites on the ground at New York JFK
One guy says JetBlue was the best overall, the other says it’s Singapore Airlines even at a reported price tag of $24,000. They serve very different markets obviously.
The video though makes for a fun watch both as pure airplane porn and for the sheer enthusiasm of the guys getting to experience the joy of travel (err, even stationary on the ground).
They even marvel at the amenities in the bathroom on the Singapore A380 in Suites Class.
Here’s the amazing thing to me: I really do consider Singapore Suites to be one of the very best first class products in the sky, and it’s a ten year old product that’s slated for retirement and replacement with something better. I can’t wait for that reveal later in the year.
Meanwhile the caviar is likely to remain the same.
Even if the bed gets even better.
