NEW: Chase Adds $300 Travel Credit To Sapphire Preferred 60,000 Point Bonus Offer

I receive compensation for content and many links on this blog. Citibank is an advertising partner of this site, as is American Express, Chase, Barclays and Capital One. Any opinions expressed in this post are my own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by my advertising partners. I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same). The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card has an offer to earn 60,000 bonus points after $4,000 in purchases in your first 3 months from account opening – plus, get up to $300 in statement credits on Chase Travel purchases within your first year.

For some time the initial bonus offer has been 60,000 points. This ups the ante with $300 in credits for travel purchases through the Chase portal – which is a very compelling offer on a card with just a $95 annual fee.

Earning with the card is: 5x on travel purchased through Chase TravelSM; 3x on dining, select streaming services and online groceries; 2x on all other travel purchases; 1x on all other purchases. There’s also a $50 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit.

The points are though what’s most interesting to me. I always want more Chase points, and my most common transfer partner is Hyatt. Other bank currencies lack such a valuable 1:1 hotel transfer partner.

And of course is comes with strong protections like Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance, Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver, Lost Luggage Insurance and more. It also offers complimentary access to DashPass which unlocks $0 delivery fees and lower service fees for a minimum of one year when you activate by December 31, 2027.

Naturally, keep in mind 5/24 – generally Chase won’t approve customers that have opened 5 or more new cards within the past 24 months. And, since I’ve had this card in the past, it’s worth flagging that if you have had this or Sapphire Reserve cards, you’re only eligible for the bonus if you no longer have the product(s) and haven’t received an initial bonus for one of them in the past 48 months.

  1. @Sandra —> the Chase Sapphire PREFERRED card (which this article is on) has a $95AF. It is the Sapphire RESERVE card which carried a much heftier $550 annual fee…

  2. Maybe this is why Chase just pushed out the reset date for the yearly travel credit for Sapphire Reserve to February 27th going forward instead of the start of the year which it was previously.

  3. Maybe beneficial for some, but the $300 travel credit is for use for purchases through the Chase portal, very unlike the $300 travel credit on the Reserve.
