News and notes from around the interweb:
- Get Hyatt top tier status for a year
- In news I missed, Airline Weekly notes that Delta is adding ‘Comfort Plus’ extra legroom seating to 50 seat CRJ-200 regional jets.
- Australia is increasing security on flights from the Mideast but explicitly not going along with an electronics ban.
- Expedia being sued for industrial espionage
- American — which used to operate a hub in San Juan — is ending New York JFK – San Juan service. Two daily flights go to one then none, while JetBlue has 4 and Delta has 3 (and JetBlue and United each have a Newark flight).
Of course Puerto Rico’s economy is in the toilet, American no longer operates the San Juan hub (and costs there have risen). American has not felt the need to compete in the New York market for New Yorkers serving all key destinations, instead they’ve run their New York operation as international and bringing people to New York.
- Cathay Pacific: a cockroach fell on my head
- Air Canada now offers Plusgrade bidding for excess premium cabin seats. Here’s what it’s not like to bid. (HT: Points, Miles, and Bling)
Yeah, if I wanted to get a ‘Premium Cabin’ seat, I’d just pay for it. The amount of time and energy to participate in one of these auctions sounds like it would cancel out any savings…
There is no love lost for Expedia in my household. I just recently had my credit card compromised by guess who for $15,000.00+
Regarding AA’s cancelation of San Juan-JFK service, isn’t that just wonderful. Granted, I have other options, but I had reservations in first for next winter. Ah well.
