  1. Interesting history lesson about rock bands. Personally, I’m impressed that people at an AI in Cancun are being cut off. Sounds like Florida Man on a bad day with Something To Prove to achieve that.

  2. Thanks for that video about the credit cards. I’d forgotten that in my first job out of college at a travel agency, we would manually imprint the customers’ credit card on the carbon paper charge slips for them to sign AND I would have to call the bank for an authorization to charge their card for the ticket! How far we’ve come!

  3. And yet we still have hotel bathrooms with half a shower door. We need to work on that technology.

  4. Chris: And some companies have been slower to leave that era behind than others . My Amex Hilton card, which expires this month still has raised numbers; the new one does not. My Chase Freedom card good through next May still does.

  5. I’m having trouble understanding the overlap between AmEx Platinum clients and Burger King customers. Also, if you’re paying a $600 annual fee to save money on Whoppers you’re either bad at math or eat way too much fast food.

  6. I’m sure cutting off people drinking responsibly on a package that included the drinks saves the hotel a lot of money. Not only drinks, but when the people go elsewhere to drink it also saves them food and accommodations such as people servicing the room that they would be gathered in. Those wanting to drink a lot will slam drinks the next day if they are available as part of the package. The whole action of cutting off seems like bait and switch using unwritten rules.

  7. You brought back the memory of having the retailer need to look up the card number is a booklet that would get updated.

  8. Used many an FFN at the Hyatt WH back in the day. Great location if you want to hang out on the Sunset Strip or have a drink up the street at the Chateau Marmont.
