Via Pizza in Motion, Points.com is giving away (3) sets of prizes of prizes of 1 million miles each.
Really I should have known this because they’re making the offer in line with voting in the Freddie Awards (the annual airline, hotel, and credit card loyalty program awards that I help to organize — several hundred thousand ballots cast already by travelers).
Enter just by signing up for Points.com through the contest link, and winners will be able to choose the program in which they win miles from Aeroplan, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, American Airlines AAdvantage Program, Delta SkyMiles, United Mileage Plus, US Airways Dividend Miles, Virgin America, and others.
In the past Points.com has offered signup bonuses of 10-20 miles in a program of choice for joining. In some ways then this is like buying a mileage lottery ticket. You forgo the chance to earn those 10 miles by signing up (though I haven’t seen it in awhile) and send those miles on a chance to win a million!
Beware the txaman…
Yup, you’re looking at paying ~1cpm to “win” these miles.
Sucks that existing members can’t enter.
*Please note that logging in to Points.com as an existing member will not constitute as an entry into the sweepstakes.
*To be eligible to participate you must not be a registered user of the Sponsor Site at the time of entry.
@tim Depends which prize you choose, the value of the prizes run form $6,000CAD to $35,000US.
How about the fine print about what value would be attached to the 1 million miles, hence the potential tax liability as winning on lottery is subject to taxation in US tax laws.
How about this rule? I’m assuming it has to do with games of chance….
“In order to be declared a winner, Canadian residents will be required to correctly answer a time-limited skill-testing mathematical question, to be administered by telephone, e-mail or other method at Sponsor’s discretion, without mechanical or other assistance.”
$5 says they’ll lock your account due to fraud after they award you the miles & 1099z
