  1. A requirement based primarily on hours creates a huge barrier to entry without offering much solid benefit. A strong case can be made that quality of training is far more important than number of hours sitting in the cockpit. In particular, simulator time where pilots must deal with situations that are difficult or impossible to simulate in an actual aircraft can do far more to prepare pilots to deal with emergencies then flying sightseeing flights over the beach for hours on end. A better system could certainly be created, but since the government is in charge I am not optimistic.

  2. Loved the Pan Am video. Given how long ago it was made; very interesting that all the passengers as well as the flight attendant were female. Meanwhile, the video was a reminder that yesterday’s first class seating was very inferior to today’s business class.

  3. I thought that was main cabin seating in the Pan Am video.
Looks like a main cabin seat from the ’80’s. Yes, flying used to be comfortable for everyone!
    Nice comfy leg room!
Jerry, it’s a staged video. They probably pulled a few employees out of accounting for the afternoon. Or off duty FA’S?

  4. What was that Prince Harry video for/about/why/intentions?
Was it on his personal page?
    On a TV show?
Their rating his green behavior I guess? Hard to tell as some accents were so thick…..
