Register now for Hilton’s second quarter promo — 1000 points during the week and 2000 per weekend night.
This isn’t strong enough to make me move business over to Hilton, and certainly not to make extra stays. But it’s worth registering for in case you have any paid Hilton stays between April 1 and June 30.
I’m likely to pick up points only during the Freddie Awards, Randy Petersen Travel Executive Summit, and Frequent Traveler University, hosted at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner.
Register even if you don’t expect to have any Hilton stays. It takes just a second, and that way if you do you won’t have to remember to do it later (since you’ll likely forget).
2000 Hilton points aren’t a ton especially in the new post-March world where a night at a formerly 50,000 point hotel may cost as much as 95,000 points per night. Hilton used to give you that many points just to update your email address each quarter. But more points for a stay you’re going to make anyway are better than not having more points for that stay.
hilton is useless.
10 point is now worth only 1 cent. Even if you have 60k points, it may not be enough for ONE NIGHT at the Hampton Inn.
I’d promote a boycott instead instead of this. It may get more folks interested.
Gary, is there ever a theoretical possibility that changes to a hotel loyalty program, such as what Hilton just did, could result in them backtracking over the devaluation due to people staying away in droves? Or given high occupancy rates (as you have pointed out in another post), that this is just wishful thinking by pointsmeisters…? Any precedent for a backtrack? Think Hilton will notice a difference in loyalty?
@blueline7 – programs have backtracked on changes and even made improvements to award charts, usually they would do so in a fairly face-saving way (hotels could go to fewer months of high season or migrate downward in category) but it’s tough to go back.
Thanks Gary. But given the high occupancy rates and given the additional offsetting revenue saving from the higher redemption requirements, do you think that Hhonors is basically immune from disloyalty backlash? In other words, are the dynamics such that it ‘just don’t matter’ to them….?
Bah Hilton pesos are no longer worth collecting
I am registered but I staying on points. 90K HH points total for 3 nights with the wife & 2 kids at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner during the FTU in a corner room with breakfast vouchers (as a Gold). The points are worth around ~ $360 … regular rate for this hotel is around $100/night, but during this period is around $299/night, if there is availability.
Whaddaya think, good deal/redemption?
