Brazilian carrier Gol is part-owned by Delta. It can make sense to credit Delta flights to Gol. They have a number of partners — including surprising ones.
Their award chart isn’t across the board generous but it’s reasonable, what keeps this program out of the headlines the most is that much of their website is in Portuguese and that the program pages lack a great deal of information.
You’re going to want to familiarize yourself with this program because they’re running a promotion that is insane and off the charts: hotel bookings for miles worth far more than the hotel nights themselves.
This is a triple miles campaign for first time users valid for the next 4 days. And their normal offerings on the Rocketmiles platform look pretty good to begin with.
A search for New York the night of September 13th brings up 150,000 miles for the W Hoboken at $659 for the night.
Searching the same night in Chicago yields offers about as good.
Gol Smiles partners with:
- Delta, Air France, KLM
- Additional SkyTeam members Aerolineas Argentinas, Korean Air, Aeromexico
- Star Alliance carriers TAP Air Portugal, Air Canada
- Gulf carriers Qatar, Emirates, and Etihad
It’s worth checking out just to remind yourself that Delta has an equity stake in an airline that partners with Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar. And while they play American for a greater fool with that airline severing codeshare ties wih both Etihad and Qatar out of ‘consistency’ Delta is perfectly good making strategic alliances that advance its own interests.
However it’s really worth checking out for this massive mileage-earning opportunity. Be aware that Gol Smiles is a program you want to earn and burn in, that miles can expire after just 12 months and I don’t believe you are going to be able to extend these miles simply with additional activity. The point is you want to earn these miles and spend them almost immediately.
Update: you can even come out ahead if you just redeem the miles earned via a hotel booking on a hotel stay crazy as that seems!
Anything for Vegas from august for the 5-8?
Or los Angeles?
I can’t find anything like what offers you got.
Me neither. I’m seeing the base miles but not the bonus.
I don’t get a bonus. only base miles.
Doesn’t work at all. Shows up as 50,000 even in Chrome incognito mode with new account. Dead.
Same here. Created a new account and used the link to the Triple Miles offer splash page, but not seeing any of the triple miles offers.
I’ve updated the link, try again.
I got it to show me triple miles for hotel stay but I”m trying to make some mock flight resv to see how their program works and I can’t change the flight dates. Website not very easy to use.
Must be resident of Brazil…
1. The participant duly enrolled Smiles Program, resident and domiciled in Brazil, with valid CPF that between 10:00 AM (Brasília time) on July 21, 2017 and 10:00 AM (Brasília time) on 08/31/2017 (“Term”) to purchase a hotel daily in the Smiles area with the partner RockeMiles whose CheckOut is given until September 15, 2017, using only money (credit card) can accumulate 200% (two hundred percent) in Smiles Miles Bonuses on the amount of Smiles Miles presented at the time of booking that will be accumulated with the reservation and overnight at the chosen hotel (“Bonus Miles”).
clickbait!
Residency can’t possibly matter since Rocketmiles is the one awarding the miles not Gol
Great find, thank you! I’m seeing a 150,000 night in Boston on 11/9. Park Plaza for $611.
Uhh @Rocky Dennis, what on earth are you talking about??
@terms and conditions
Does this mean I have to be a brazil citizen? what does CPF mean?
Dumb it down for me please.
Thanks
Looking to utilise this offer maybe for my family to get a roundtrip ticket to Japan in the future.
Thanks
CPF is Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas or a Brazilian tax ID. Gol has at times limited mileage purchase to individuals with a tax ID, and some folks have randomly generated one to use for that purpose. That may be boilerplate, I don’t see any place to enter one while booking a hotel through the portal.
@Gary Leff So what do I have to do? Because I don’t want to book a hotel, and never get the points. (Wife will kill me for spending that much money for nothing.)
To clarify: I see great mileage credits for hotel purchases. So, f’rinstance I can book a hotel in Montreal and get 150,000 points for a 2 night stay wherein I am paying a grand total of around $700. Then, on their site, it appears I can fly business class from LAX to Montreal for 50,000 miles on Air Canada. This does not compute! Because if so, it means I can get 3 business class flights for my 700 bucks. Really???
This one seems really risky. I could easily see GOL deciding to audit the accounts that participate and pull the miles based on a technicality.
@ Susan – I was having the same problem not being able to change the date in Chrome so I tried it on Safari. You don’t get the easy translation, but the calendar actually works there!
Thanks @madguy!
So tempted. But T&C say you must be a Brazilian citizen. Big investment on a hotel I don’t need for miles that might be taken away.
I’m a Brazilian now living in the US, so maybe I can provide some info. The CPF can be filled in when you create your Smiles account (I.e. the frequent flyer number). As Gary said, it is possible to generate fake numbers. Another problem is about residing in Brazil. You can put in a Brazilian address, but that might cause problems when you try to redeem the miles. If your account is in Brazil, you can only pay for taxes and fees with a Brazilian credit card. When I moved to the US, took me a while to figure this out and properly update the address.
So, this could be a great deal, but there’s some risk.
I created a Smiles account and using Gary’s updated link, I was able to find the promotional rates in various locations within the US. But, as noted above, the Terms & Conditions state not only that you must be a Brazilian resident, but paragraphs 8, 9, and 10 specifically state that if, at any time, you are determined to be ineligible, any transactions under the promotion will be canceled and your Smiles account closed. So, although it’s very tempting, seems too risky.
I agree with other posters. There is too much risk that the points will not be awarded. The actual nightly rates are double and triple what they should be, so it seems as if Rocketmiles is making their money and the booker may just get a hotel night.
@John B
I really don’t mind it too much if I am paying a little more for the hotel room, but I am more affraid of GOL and rocketmiles taking back the offer and saying no to everyone.
Can someone who can speak Portuguese Please call +55 300 115 7001 (Brazil Smiles Customer Care )and get this confirmed. The US Number on the site is only for GOL Airlines but not the Smiles Program.
a Hyatt Regency Nearby my place is offering 42K Miles for $179/night using this promo; Basically a ride on Qatar A350 Business class from PHL/JFK to INDIA for $537 (120K miles redemption) . This is too good if US Residents can avail the offer too
RC montreal 8-10 Sep = 204,000 bonus miles.
Booked the Sulpice in Montreal for 2 night at approx $1200 CAD earning 228k points!
However, my receipt explicitly says that points will be credited AFTER checkout. Anyone else have experience with redeeming reward flights with this website (Smiles)?
I’m not sure if I am willing to take the risk being not Brazilian after all..
Note that the bonus miles portion might only be good for 6 months and the “base” miles will expire according to your Smiles status level.
I think the deal just died. While I was looking at different dates, the number of miles just drastically dropped.
I went for a hotel which showed earnings of 105,000 Smile miles on a $319 room. Non-refundable hotel booking. On the page where you enter CC information, I noticed that the Base Miles earned is 19K and the Promo Miles earned is 38K, total only 57,000…a far cry from 105,000. This is still worth it for some, but I’m mainly a OneWorld flyer so I cancelled out.
@Rob I just saw the same thing… 🙁
Frequent Miler has already updated their post, and advising people to not try this, and cancel if booked.
Gary, as usual is letting the clicks roll in while conveniently not updating the title and post, or responding to comments re: terms requiring Brazilian resident.
Thanks afterbang! Will cancel…. was indeed too good to be true, I guess.
Hi – Bart from Rocketmiles here. This is indeed a great promotion! Anyone who has already booked will have all miles honored, even if not from Brazil – not sure why some think they should cancel? The triple miles promotion is good through July 31. Differences in miles offered earlier today and now were result of a small glitch but incredible offers continue to be found in most cities around the world.
Wonder if folks like @afterbang will be back to apologize… (not holding my breath)
Hey Bart, if that’s the case…. why does the fine print say otherwise? re: Brazilian domiciled and valid CPF…
With the strong interest of this promo and the great base offers for hotel bookings via the Smiles Hoteis portal we’ll honor the bookings from users outside of Brazil. The value proposition is very strong even without the promotion; we encourage everyone to consider earning via Smiles for future hotel bookings.
I hope this isn’t a cruel joke, Bart. How do we know you’re legit?
LOL at “not sure why some think they should cancel?” Oh I don’t know, perhaps because the terms specifically required Brazilian residence? For a promo on non refundable bookings that don’t award miles until after completing the stay? And Gary failed to mention both of these very pertinent details. Gary, you have developed a reputation for click bait posts. Sorry if I offended you by letting your readers know of another big blogger who was trying to be proactive to help readers understand the risk. Are you going to ask for an apology from FM?
There is way too much risk involved for not enough reward on this deal.
Also, another correction – from the terms (translated w/ Google Translate) – “the Bonus Miles will be valid for 06 (six) months from the moment they are made available to the Participant’s Smiles account.” Did you even read the terms Gary? Oh, another interesting tidbit – where exactly did you find this deal? I noticed the link you provide to the promotion has a code with a bunch of numbers on the end.. which can be removed from the link, and it still works. That wouldn’t be an affiliate link that you get kick backs on by any chance would it? “Not holding my breath” for any apologies either.

So Gary Leff, (since there are two Garys here),
it looks like you asking apology demonstrates that you believe what RocketBart is claiming.
Is there a reason for that?
Maybe you have a reason to believe that he is indeed an employee of Rocketmiles?
If so, you should’ve provided evidence considering the risky nature of this deal, and THEN, ask for apology.
If not, you are being an irresponsible blogger who is being cheeky and childish for asking an apology without any real proof.
And most importantly, you had time to post such sarcastic comment but not edit the post to add a crucial piece of info as PSA? You need to at least advise your readers about being required to be Brazilian citizen.
I went ahead with the reservation … 174K miles for 6 night stay..1187$ including taxes
Called Rocketmiles customer care and they said that the promotion is open to all and GOL should not limit this to Brazilian citizens as the miles are posted by Rocketmiles so does not matter what citizenship you have…
latest checkout for this promotion is 15th september 2017? Cause I get it priced with the miles even the checkout is after this day.
thanks
Alright. Let’s say Rocketmiles credit your miles even if you are not Brazilian citizen.
How can you be sure that they are not going to banned your account?
@Dan I ‘had a reason to believe he’s an employee’ because he and I had email correspondence from his rocketmiles address and I verified his identity on linkedin and the rocketmiles site.
Saying I need to “at least advise your readers about being required to be Brazilian citizen” is silly when there is no such requirement being enforced.
Too late, everything is now 1/3 of the deal you posted.
